Hello everyone.
Fresh off the block and wet behind the ears...looking to change that and build my loan signing business out here in sunny yet windy southern california...I am asking for any pointers...advice...words of wisdom...websites...etc to get me going in the right direction...anything is greatly appreciated...especially those out there who know the socal market... I am a premium member on this website and will join others today and tomorrow...I was told that the housing market has slowed due to increased interest rates yet I will not be discouraged from success....as my good buddy yoda once said...."you do or you don't...there is no try!"....thanks in advance for everyone's help.
ps...NEVER NEVER go into the basement ladies and gentleman...two words...PULP FICTION!
Terry Fallis.

Hi Terry and welcome to the zoo! Charm's advice is right on the money. Also, I checked out your profile and would suggest maybe giving it a more polished and professional spiel. No need to suggest that you're new. Just list what you can do and what you're familiar with. For example you might want to hi-light your capabilities since your experience is limited.
Ex:
I am available Mon-Fri. 9 to 9 and weekend appointments are available. Compatible with refinances and lines of credit. I have a laser printer capable of big jobs.

You can also list any certifications and affiliations you have.

Hey there Terry! Welcome to the world of notary signing agents--sometimes referred to as the "zoo"--as Beth/MD so accurately described. Beth is right, sell yourself on your "positives"!! I wouldn't suggest overly "embellishing" but your profile needs to "sell" you, and all your previous accomplishments. Everyone has to start somewhere, but be honest in what you put in your profile as well as what you tell anyone who calls you for an assignment. When I call a notary, I (usually) can tell within seconds how "seasoned" they are. In addition, if that person is up front with me, I will almost always give them a chance--without reducing the normal fees that we pay to "seasoned" notaries. I wish you great success and maybe we'll get to work together soon. Best of luck to you. Susan

Beth & Susan are 100% Correct

The first thing I looked at was your profile - definitely upbeat but not something that will get you work. Hopefully you take edocs (or plan to) and have all the right equipment to do so -- be sure to advertise that.

Dont' limit yourself to just one site listing (if that's the case) as there are many more out there, some that really get you calls (and some that don't). You sound like you are headed in the right direction with such a positive attitude, especially in an area with a zillion loan signers. Good Luck to You

Hi Susan.
Thanks for the positive words of encouragement. I shall review my profile and add more "sizzle" to it. And yes it would be great to work with you in the future.

Terry, You do have a good positive outlook. I have been pretty hard-nosed lately about things and it makes me miss my can-do, will-do nicer side...but then, the very next rattle out of the box there's a problem which ...NEVERMIND. Good luck and stay very, very positive.

I usually am! But, I have a drop in seller/early bird coming and I am sitting here looking some a little different than "pretty in pink" wearing my pink flannel pj's. I look like the tale end of hard times but he's a builder and it is a repeat client. Will fake this look somehow.

I agree you should tweak your profile so you sound easy to work with but not brand spanking new - mine is not one to look at for a pattern but I think you got good advice from a few earlier.

Thanks brendaTx...and hopefully you grab that "rattler" and flushed it down the toilet...each day the fat man upstairs gives us a test to pass...its our free will that chooses the answer...
Terry.

Welcome to the "petting" zoo....

No one, well, almost no one here bites.

I like the driving the extra mile part. Don't be surprised if you see it on my profile! (Just kidding)

Your profile says info available on request.... But, you have nothing to contact with.
If anyone knew where you were from and posted a job for you here you can bet it will be gone before you can respond.

Start with a area and phone number. Take out the new stuff.
