OT: Entwistle Murder Case

I actually heard that this case may be dismissed because Entwistle may not be given a fair trial because of all the media spotlight. What is your opinion on that? Do you actually think he will get off because of the media?

I personally don't think he will! Martha Coakley (the DA in my county [Middlesex]) is an excellent DA, I've had the honor of working for her office on several occasions. Hopefully she'll 'stick it to 'em!"

Of course he'll get a fair trial. Name a high profile trial that doesn't get a lot of media spotlight. What they may end up doing is moving the trial to a different venue, if they believe the local jury/pool may have been swayed by the coverage.

They certainly won't dismiss the case.

I agree regarding the change of venue.

His attorney will most likely try to dismiss it though on the aforementioned grounds. His comments seem to imply it.

All high profile trials get a lot of media spotlight, hence the term: "high profile". But not a lot of them in the U.S. are world-wide news.

The defense lawyers always ask for a dismissal --

-- for any reason they can think of.
Hello! It's what they do.
