OT Vent
In the last couple of weeks I have recieved telemarketing calls from a company that I am not interested in. They ask for my hubby and then go into the you have been selected to recieve pitch. Each time I have told them no, we are not interested. Now I'm starting to get ticked. So this morning they call again and I tell them "I have told you several times we are not interested, do not call us, and remove our number from your list". Now I am ready to use the infamous "F off" technique. The problem is this is obviously a call that has been outsourced to a company outside the US. I'm hoping the F word is universal because the next time they call I think I'm going to shout "F you" over and over until I hear a dial tone. Do you think that will do the trick? Whatever happened to the national do not call list?

My favorite thing to do to telemarketers is tell them sure I can talk, can you hold on one sec? Then in 5 or 10 minutes I hang up the phone. I actually had one hang on for almost 10 minutes. Must have been new to the job because he didn't realize I was just wasting his time. I have also told them that I was on house arrest and needed someone to make a beer run for me? While they stutter over that one, ask them if they have a good way to get blood out of the carpet.

Crafty or not, there are a couple of telemarketers who think I'm some murderer!

If you are on the do-not-call registry, that's all you have to say: "I'm on the do-not-call registry." They can't call you after that. If they do, get company info and report them.
If you don't say those words, they don't have to pay attention. Saying "I'm not interested, don't call again" is not the same thing.
Has worked for me every time.

Marlene the last that I could remember there was some sort of injunction or something against the do not call list. So am I correct in assuming that it is back in affect?

I added out number to the donotcall.gov list and for a while the phones were silent from telemarketers...but lately they have started calling again.

I always file a complaint. Just go on line and click away. Don't know if it really does any good or not. And I thik Beth's way to handle them is hilarious. I'll have to try that.

If your number is listed with the DNC registry, they're not suppose to call the first time!! Get the company name and phone number and immediately fill out the DNC complaint.
https://www.donotcall.gov/Complain/ComplainCheck.aspx
FILE A COMPLAINT
1. To file a complaint now, your phone number must have been on the registry for 31 days.
2. To file a complaint, we need the date you got the call, and either the name or telephone number of the company that called you.
*Reminder: Even if your number is registered, companies with which you do business may continue to call you. So may charities, political organizations, and telephone surveyors. Click Here for more information about the companies that may continue to call the numbers on the registry.

Thank you PAW! I haven't taken down the information up to this point, but I will do so in the future.

If you happen to have small children or grandchildren
who like to talk on the phone, just hand it to them. My grandaughter loves to talk to telemarketers, I don't know how fond they are of it though

How about telling them you are going to get your hubby and just leave them on hold. Or as a friend of mine does tells them hubby can be found here and gives them the local zoo.

I usually take down a name and number and if they call more than 3 times I would report it. I have never had to report anyone thus far. I have also been known to speak German to them. They hang up on me a couple sentences in becuase they have no idea what I'm talking about.

Catches them off guard if you give them the phone # to the cemetary, tell them to call there to talk to you...of course, some of them just get confused...
