Perhaps this is a dumb question but....
how does a SS that has never worked with ( given signings to) a person find out that pseudo name on the board? If I am posting here under a different name can a SS find out my real name?

I would imagine yes Jenny they can. How else would they utilize this board to find notaries to close their loans? I certainly wouldn't think that any TC or SS would call ..and go...
HI may I speak to CaliNotary? or Shane Oh, or Jenny CA, or HereinSoCal....
Nope, you signed up for this site so TC/SS's/Lenders could get ahold of you, by name.

I am quite aware that they wouldn't call and ask for "Jenny CA". I imagined them typing up the zip code, county , and so forth I didn't think our "screen name" would be listed.

See If I follow, a SS, lender, etc. can see our profiles with out our screen name but if any of us say something unpleaseant using our screen name ,they can simply ask for our real name? that's kind of sh***y, isn't it? I understand having to answer to a subpoena (sp.) but simply asking???

No, Not a dumb question at all. If a ss wants your name all they do is contact Harry and he will give it to them. A friend of my had that experience on this forum. Turns out after the fact the statements made RE: the ss were proven to be true after other notaries has similar bad experiences with the very same ss.

He didn't get it from Harry, don't worry
It's a really simple explanation and it has nothing to do with the privacy of this board.
Notarize This contacted me yesterday to do a signing which I accepted, but gave back to them after I read the comments on this board about their payment history. When I gave back the signing I told him the reason I was doing it, he asked which board I read the comments on and I told him it was NotaryRotary.
After seeing Barb's post this morning containing the email she had received from them I couldn't resist sending an email to them about it, I got a couple of snotty emails back from them and I posted them in the same thread as Barb posted her email.
The Notarize This guy also checked this board around the same time, saw my post, and it wasn't too terribly difficult for him to figure out who I was, lol.
But like I said earlier, it's not a big deal. I definitely initiated the pot stirring wth him by sending the email about their response to Barb, and I fully expected them to come on this board and try to defend themselves. And I assumed it would be done in a way which showed how unprofessional and hypocritical they were. Which they did spectacularly.
So no, I certainly don't feel like my privacy was violated in any way and it had absolutely nothing to do with getting any information from Harry or Notary Rotary. Once Notarize this checked this message board it had to be blatantly obvious to them who I was, and I fully expected them to do exactly what they did.
But now that I have my new, highly fashionable alter ego, they'll never figure me out!

Even so...
Even if you had told him who you were
Blatantly posting on an open forum, priviliged information is a violation of privacy, IMO. I have no problem telling people my real name, its on my profile, its on my website, no big deal, its what I do.
But, if I'm posting somewhere as "Mr. Bob Dobalina", I'd expect to be called that, and if anyone where to use that site to obtain that information, i'd be irate.

I'm a little confused
While I can agree with what you wrote here, you had also mentioned yesterday that you were in favor of linking all posts on this board to our Notary Rotary profiles. Which certainly contain a lot more privliged information than just a first and last name, and that information could be used by anybody in here to make life hell for some of the posters on here.
It just seems like 2 sharply differing points of view, what am I missing?

Re: Thank you for setting it straight,
it's funny the things that will get to me. Now, does this mean that Harry does not give out info, because the other poster said it happened to a friend once?

Re: Thank you for setting it straight,
No problem, I just wanted to make sure that people knew that I willingly opened myself up to it.
As for what the other poster said, I just can't imagine that Harry would be willing to do that or be bothered to do that. And we all know that "I have a friend who this happened to" stories should usually be taken with a grain of salt.
