Southern CA saturation update

On Dec. 4 I had responded to a post by somebody else in Southern California about the growing number of notaries. On that date there were 965 members on this board within 20 miles of me and 1657 within 30 miles of me.

I deciided to check out the updated figures today, 2 months later. There are now 1073 within 20 miles of me and 1845 within 30 miles.

That is an 11% increase in 2 months. That's a faster growth rate than the property values around here!

As you're in a large metropolitan area targeted by the NNA and notaryclasses.com, it would be interesting to see the numbers as the year progresses. I'd be curious if you see any impact as those radio ads and other media hit your area.

I can do the same in my area but it wouldn't be representative of the massive campaigns run by these companies as the greater LA area.

I guess the message is and remains...professional notaries need to work harder, market harder and perhaps spend more of their income in advertising/marketing to increase their client base, much less keep the clients they have as it's just too easy to get another notary for less.

I wonder how many will drop out because they are unwilling or unable to do the work necessary to get business or do the job properly?

I dunno Glen but...

I have a respect for those of you in Cali...my home state BUT it's crawling with SA's. My personal opinion is if you're making it there with all the competition, you've gotta be the cream of the crop!

where are you going to check the number of notaries? Is it here on this site?

Central Calif is the same...

Cracks me up when I am at a signing and the wife will turn to me and say "how do I get into what you are doing, I hear it is a great job?" Well, we won't even go into the fancy footwork evasive very pleasant speech I give as a reply.

Oh yeah, or this one. I went to a job interview a few weeks ago, the lady interviewing me asked what I was doing now. I explained that I am an NSA, and she said, "oh my husband does that too. Or at least he took the classes and is all ready to go but he does not know how to get started. Maybe you can help him?" I did not get the job. Thankfully.

Or this one....a lady I used to work with, (actually I hired her at a law firm where I worked before). Her resume listed "Notary Signer." I asked her what that meant, she said she took a class to notarize loan documents. After she was hired and I left the firm I still got emails from her asking questions, because the class left her with so many questions.

Every 3 weeks an independant company comes to my city to hold classes for NP's and NSA's. Every 3 weeks he stocks the already overcrowded pond with people that have no idea what they are doing but just want a piece of the pie.

Yes, the cream will rise to the top. The rest will drop away bit by bit.

Go to the "find a notary" tab, put your zip code in and it will tell you how many notaries are within the range of miles you use.

thats what I thought, when I do the 20 mile check there are 51 notaries, but...I am the only notary I know who is listed, there are a huge number of notaries not on the list, and also
even though notaries are listed within 20 miles the "real milage" would make for an
impossible commute.
