Strange EOM Signing!
It was in a very nice area, but there was no power, some big rig hit a light post and the entire area was with no power.
The borrowers had the house full of candles, but not enough light for doing the signing, they had 2 flashlights that didnt last more than ten minutes. They end up using one of their vehicles lights with a mirror to reflect the light from the car. I asked if we can go to a public place or a fast food restaurant. OH it was too cold to be outside, that's what they said.
Docs had a misspelled name, so they had to initial all docs! OH well, I had one more that night I was printing docs at 10:15PM. Crazy EOM!

About three weeks ago I had to meet someone at an A&W.
Of course I thought we would be doing this inside, as I've done many at fast-food restaurants.
When I got there, they were sitting outside. It was around 48 degrees, too cold for me. One of the borrowers decided to go get her coat out of the car because she was cold. The other seemed fine. I didn't say a word about going inside because I'm sure they didn't want anyone hearing their business. It was an hour and a half signing and I was a popcicle by time that signing was through.

I know, I'm sure someone from MT would think 48 degrees was a heat wave but not in CA. I'm from the midwest and forget how cold, cold can be until I go back there.

I would not work under those circumstances you or Jan --
did. I have done many signings in Starbucks or other public places and can simply point to any sensitive figures or terms.
I never forget that I am conducting the signing, NOT the borrowers.

Thank god I use a navigation system in my car otherwise I wouldnt be able to get there, I cant see very good at night. Some other times when its very foggy, If I take my other vehicle I have so much hard time finding addresses. Now if its sunny in my house I still take the car with the navi, you never know how is going to be in the borrowers home.

Huh? How is your GPS relevant to the borrowers having no--
lights? What if you goofed because you could not see the documents properly? Missed a signature line or a place for initials?

Has nothing to do with control.
Rick, I'm very accommodating to borrowers. It never fails that they have to get in contact with the LO, which they did, and we all know we don't like hearing this in a restaurant. I've done signings in all sorts of situations and circumstances, this one was no big deal and nothing to make a fuss over.

Let the borrower step out of the building in that case to make his/her private call to the L/O. I'll keep sipping my coffee inside, that's fine.

Sorry, Jan, I guess I misinterpreted your remark from your first message:
> It was an hour and a half signing and I was a popsicle by time that signing was through.
I like to be accomodating, too, but not to the extent I will put my health or the accuracy of a signing (lack of good light) at risk.

I"m with Rick on this one
There is accommodating, and then there's sitting like a chump in the freezing cold right outside the door to a perfectly warm location or trying to do a signing by candlelight or the interior light of the car.
If there's another perfectly acceptable option available, I ain't gonna be doing it the hard way.
