Summer is here early

10:30 am and it's already 76 degrees outside. Today's high is expected to be 88. It almost makes those half million dollar starter homes worth it.

What part of CA are you in?

I'm in central CA and it is gorgeous here too! My kids asked me today if we missed spring and summer has already arrived! They are eyeing the pool, however that is still 40 degrees. Talk about a rude awakening.....

Ok, let's not rub it in for us folks who still have to

deal with winter. It's only 39 here today. And yes, that is the high. :PPP

Rub it in...hmmmm...Californians are as smug as as Aggie Texans.

I enjoyed reading this article this morning about the Brazos Valley economy. http://www.theeagle.com/stories/020906/am_20060209013.php

We have a GREAT outlook for 2006, and pretty much in Texas this year. The weather is my favorite part here in the Brazos Valley. It is almost as pretty as San Diego -- weather LOL, but no palms or sand...just red dirt and oak trees.

I moved here out of a financial decision because my son was in school here when my husband died - it's cheaper to send a kid to school if you can stop the dual home upkeep.

I had no idea there would be a bonus...that I'd go from being at the doc's office once every three weeks to a month for sinus and allergies to seeing the doctor like NEVER. My last visit for illness was 8/2001.

I did not think I'd stay here longer than just for a few years. I plan to stay put as long as I feel as good as I do...I don't want to change anything.

This article is going into my COUNTER THE NEGATIVE CRAP notebook. My parents are depression era babies. They cannot help but see doom and despair all around them...neither of them are actually concerned about finances, neither has ever seen ultra hard times, but they sure like to talk like they can hardly go get a hamburger at the Sonic on Tuesdays.

Mother calls to read me every negative article in her newspaper. I have one now to read her...I think I'll read it to her when she calls with the Obituary report in the morning.

There's no such thing as a good Aggie joke!

Yes, we are setting records. Now if we could only get rid of the wind! I am getting tired of picking up the deck furniture from the lawn!!!

Re: Colleen, you must be in the desert. I am in o/c no wind,

Actually I am in Ventura County (Simi Valley). We usually get the typical santa ana's in the fall, but we have had more wind this winter then I care for. It has blown so hard that it took down our entire back fence and we are on 1/2 acre. The allergies have been terrible. I am ready for some rain and cold. I envy my son who is in school in Humboldt.

Yep, this is what we pay the big bucks for...

(and boy, do we ever!) I'm enjoying sitting here in my office in my shirtsleeves, with the door to my patio wide open! I should probably add that this is highly unusual for this time of year, which should be our rainy season... and I spent the last several days with a view of a big cloud of smoke from a large brush fire - which thankfully is now under control.

I had a great LA moment yesterday

I had a signing yesterday, the borrower was at work. When I walked into the building there was immediately a glass case in front of me containing an Academy Award. The signing was at the Dreamworks Studio in Glendale. The award was for Shrek winning best animated film in 2001.

It was pretty cool, I've never had the opportunity to see one before. There was also an Emmy award, but that was relegated to the wating room, along with a bunch of lesser awards. And that was actually the second Emmy I've seen on a signing.

Now if I can just get a signing at the Brady Bunch house I can die happy.

Speaking of half a mil starter homes

I've got some in the low rent district. Nine hundred sq ft one bedroom/studio condo's situated in an area known for it's apartments, in the City of Ventura. You can steal one for $400K.

Still, it's absolutely gorgeous here today.
