IIRC, my first signing as a full-time notary signing agent was with Nations Direct, lender was Millennium Mortgage, extremely large package, 3 signers. I don't remember the fee, but I'm sure it's not what I would charge today.

First Signing: Frontier Title Paid: $125.00 First Mistake: Trusting a Loan Agent to pay my fee instead of billing escrow (at her request) - she never paid me Earliest Signing: Ummm, virtually all mine are afternoon/evening LATEST Signing: 10PM Shortest Signing: 15 min - the borrower had to leave on a flight Longest Signing: 2.5 hours - the borrower was ESL & wanted everything she signed to be translated into Spanish for her. Most number of signers on a package: 5
That was fun.

First signing: Pinnacle Real Estate Services Fee: $145.00, 1st & 2nd @ 9:30 PM (Boy, was I nervous!) First Mistake: Missed stamp on Aff. Earliest 8 AM; Latest 11 PM
Worst signing I ever had the Husband & Wife fought over whether to continue with the loan for over 30 minutes. They were upset over closing costs.
Best signing: Husband wife were so sweet and told me they would pray my business would increase (It had been pretty slow.) The next day I got 4 signings and the day after that I had 7 and turned away aleast 8 more. WOW! I was shocked. It has been better ever since!

Re: Survey: Best & Worst?
Best Signing: United Title referred me to a Loan agent who needed a signing about 30 miles from me. Could I take a gift basket to the borrower, too? Sure, I said. He paid me $225 for the extra-kid-gloves treatment, and the borrowers were more than wonderful. I would be thrilled to work with this agent again.
Worst Signing: The loan agent (different agent than above) got the docs, started going thru them with the borrowers with their three small children in her cramped office. Loan agent ended up scattering the docs willy-nilly and the kids started walking off with some of the papers. I walked in for a different signing that was supposed to start in 15 min, and she commandeered me to finish up the one she had scattered all over. I had to attempt to put the package back together, retrieve some from the children, and go thru each page to make sure all the pages had been signed by both borrowers (they were not, despite the loan agent's insistence that they were). The borrowers were furious that it was taking so long. I managed to finish them up and moved on to the next appointment which started late because of this surprise first one. The the loan agent asked me to hand-deliver the docs to T/C, an extra 15 miles. She promised to pay me the courier fee.
I never got paid for the second signing, despite repeatedly billing escrow (the borrower rescinded his loan so T/C said I must collect from the loan agent...yeah, right). It took 5 months to get paid for the nightmare signing. Never got the courier fee, either. Both signings were thru Fidelity Title - I will not work with that T/C or that agent again.
Another difficult signing required me to drive more than 150 miles altogether. I had to pick up docs at one location, sign at the borrower's home, drop docs off at a second location, and then drive home. I was well paid for the signing, but would not do that again. Too much time expended - more than 6 hours. In retrospect, I was not well-compenstated for the time and travel and aggravation involved.

First signing: Lenders First Choice Fee: $125.00 First Mistake:missed stamp on aff. after 6mths in business! Should've known better Earliest 8 AM; Latest 11:30 PM
Worst signing I ever had was probably the most nasty place I've ever had to go. It was the messiest, stinkiest place I've ever been. No place to put the docs. Had to move food and wipe the table first! Boy did it smell horrible.
Best signing I ever had was a known political figure's refi. It was really cool meeting this person.

Which SS was your very first signing with: Docs on the Run (times have changed!) I was paid: 70.00 First mistake: First edocs I printed all docs on legal size paper. Had to reprint and resign at my expense of course! (Funny that some lenders don't mind that, but first time I was clueless) Earliest signing ever done: Midnight (early or late, however you look at it) was also my biggest money maker to date.
