The NNA Cert. Classes.. VENTING

I received an email from a woman a few counties over from me that just took the NNA cert. class and is now ready to roll. She is having some big issues and some problems and wants to know if I would be willing to mentor her. Seems the wonderful NNA went over all the LAWS of being a notary (so does my state primer), but failed to go over any of the important things.. like mortgage docs!
How in the world can they churn out Certs without telling the newbies what exactly they are going to be doing?
She was under the impression this would be like a 9-5 job (haha), and that she would make TONS of money her first year. Did they want to help her with advertising? Nope.. just list your name on our website and roll in the $. Geez!
I told her I would be more than happy to help her.
If the NNA is going to "certify" these people, why oh why don't they mentor them? And WHY don't they teach them what REALLY is loan docs?
Just my venting. I feel better now.

Recommend a better method.

"If the NNA is going to "certify" these people, why oh why don't they mentor them? And WHY don't they teach them what REALLY is loan docs?"

Why not simply recommend a better training manual, like the Signing Registry Training Guide?

You say that she's a few counties over. You can't be there for her all the time. And you can't explain everything by email. In a case like this, it's better that she "learn how to fish".

What she needs is something she can refer to again and again, instead of always having to ask you questions. Something she can even carry with her on assignments. It's a small amount for her to pay for the information that is in it. You can still answer an occasional question now and then. Good luck.

Maybe because they haven't yet figured out how to profit from it - or maybe they're working on that part and want their "graduates" to be so confused that they have to pay for the next class.... OR maybe they are just teaching all that they know! ;>) I have wondered a time or two with all the SA classes they are holding, where they find knowledgeable, experienced teachers who would be willing to travel all over the country teaching loan signing classes.

(BTW, I hope this woman isn't expecting you to invest your time in mentoring her for free - even if she is a few counties over!!)
