This is ridiculous

Monday morning. No Ted. None of the norms are posting. I understand Harry wanted the board to calm down but this "Rate It" system is a joke. If it weren't for that there would be 2 pages of threads already today. Ridiculous!

I say just be yourself and if you get booted there will be enough people complaining about it you will be back in no time or we can start our own board, this is DUMB!

I don't have an opinion about the rating system as of yet. I am glad, however, to see that the board is back to being a professional forum. In the past when I was reading the board, I didn't like all of the 'self-involved' roles some consistent notaries were playing.

Through time my opinion will form regarding the rating system. Until then, I think we should keep the board like this for awhile.

Yes it is....don't get us wrong, we are not afraid to post, we just graduated Kindergarten too many years ago to waste time playing head games. Talked to many members over the weekend, I'm taking a break to concentrate on other things. When Shane gets that notary website to organize the professionals together, I sure hope it has a discussion forum.

It seems that this board is goign to get awful quiet now with the new rating system. Alot of good posts it seems have been given red "marks". Hopefully it will not last to long and if Shane gets a forum ging let me know.

I don't think a post being red or green or anywhere in between will cause any more or less conversation. Everybody will still probably read them, not matter what color the box is, and those who wish to respond will do so, again, regardless of the color.

The best thing to come about, to keep this more in line with professionalism and mostly on topic, has been the extension to anonymous posters having their IP address shown as well as the identification of the state in the "Posted by" line of each message.

PAW FL said that.

For instance - like PAW said above, plus on the anons this type of thing -->"of CA"<-- is helpful. This means that there will be no more total anon by the posters using Verizon, Comcase, AOL, etc. Helpful.

Re: This is ridiculous - clarifying about Shane/organizing

When I made a post about Shane organizing us, I had no thoughts in mind about putting Shane into a position of him vs. this forum.

I just feel that he's got a lot of energy and we older people should not be dream squashers. Shane's got good ideas and with the energy of the young tempered by the wisdom of we older ones we might be able to create a body...a voice of reason for notaries who work with their seal across the USA.

One thing is for certain (IMHO) the younger ones who are energetic can take this business by storm...for good or for bad, now, I'd like to show that I am reasonable and will work toward a common goal with the younger ones because what Shane is considering is a good thing. We need professionalism.

I agree with you Brenda. We need professionalism. If we are to be taken seriously. If I can help in any way let me know. I like this forum because of all the good information and because we can discuss things that are bothering us and we know others have gone through it. It is a good support system when the other stuff doesn't get in the way ie: the insults. There have been many times I have been frustrated and have gotten on here and gotten a few good needed laughs as well.

The rate-it system is ridiculous, nobody wants to post just to have people rate what they have to say. I enjoyed reading this board a couple of times a day, now there is nothing here. Somebody else said it is back to being professional here. Since when is quiet professional? It is like sitting in a morning meeting with no one speaking. Nothing said, nothing resolved. In my opinion I would like to see the rating system removed.

Yes, Brenda/CA. Since when does quiet = professional. It's like a mortuary here. The fun and informative way we've all dealt with the tops/bottoms of the business has been a big plus to many of us. Especially on the really crappy days.

Lily,
I agree with you, when I first started posting in here I got answers I did not like, but they made me think. I really feel that without the spice form the experienced professionals this forum is headed downhill. I have been in this business for almost a year, and there is still something new to learn everday. I enjoy all the o/t topics as well. I think the rating system should be removed. If you don't like a post, simply don't read it. If you have something to say, then simply say it, don't hide behind ratings which in mho is just another form of anon.

I just went through and gave you all green boxes. I am Irish so I like green anyway. I accidently clicked my last post as weel in rating. I received an error message, and I am losing a point due to my rating ethics. Tahts what I get for ordering a beer in the am. Now I am truly unethical. (or drunk?)

Re: This is ridiculous - clarifying about Shane/organizing

I agree that we do need a professional organization to lobby the powers that be for our rights and protection. I do work for the signing services but I do not like the fact that some pay so little (or offer to) and then want to take forever to pay us. The forum also needs to be professional; some of the posts in the past have been not so professional and I just ignore those. The rating system does not bother me.

I agree with NM. I too would like to be included in a board where professionals aren't leary of having an opinion that may differ or offend another professional. Gosh, that's how the world is run. We differ, we debate, we settle, we move on. This new idea of Shane's sounds promising. Please count me in.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, nor attempt to thwart anyone's ambition, but there already is a professional forum where everything is always above board because the audience is limited to notary signing agents only. If you wish more information, please email me as I do not want to advertise a competing board (though most members of the "other" board are also members here, and support Notary Rotary by becoming Premium Members and purchasing NR products).

I would like to know, maybe I'm wrong, but, okay, since when does professionalism = stuffy?
After some of the signings we have where we are threatned, yelled at etc etc...it's sure nice to get on the board and share experiences and have a little humor. IE:Charm's OT funnies etc.

There will always be somebody that gets on and expects all the answers given to them on a silver platter, and won't like it when they are told to do a search because that question has been asked 1000 + times already, and answered.

I enjoyed reading others experiences and how they handled the situation, it's a learning tool.

Anyway....I'll take a shot of Amarula with my coffee...Thanks!

Re: Amarula?????

If you like Baileys You would LOVE Amarula! It comes from Africa. I keep checking the liquor stores here for it, but no luck. I buy it on the ship when I cruise. Has a similar taste to Baileys but a little more potent. Burns pretty good if you drink it straight, but it's smooth and creamy... It's made from the fruit of a tree in Africa, when the fruit falls from the tree it begins to ferment and the animals eat it, and get rip roaring drunk! Their was a Nature show on years ago showing them eating the fruit and getting drunk then passing out. First time I've ever seen a drunk elephant....LOL
