Unprofessionalism at the lender and or TC
TC calls. Can I do a hurry up signing last night. I said, "Sure. " Called borrower. No answer. But it was early in the evening. I called TC later to see how docs were coming and to tell them I still couldn't reach borrower. Still no docs, they said.
The evening passed. No docs. Called TC. They said they didn't have anything from lender. Called borrower...still no answer. Went to bed.
TODAY...TC calls..."Say, about that loan that didn't go last night ? How about today?"
"Sure," I said.."Lets do it." Called borrower and finally got him. He's a trucker. Said he wouldn't be home until 10 tonight. "That's fine with me," I said. He said he was glad I'd come at that hour.
I had two other signings tonight. I had to leave about 5pm. No docs before I left town. The lender called and said they'd have docs to me later in the evening. No problem.
I got home at 10pm and looked at my computer..no docs.
I called the borrower. Got Mrs. Borrower. Oh, she said, they got somebody else to do it and he'll be here any minute.
I don't mind that somebody else is doing it. (OKAY, a little I do) What I really mind is no one from TC or lender letting me know. They'll probably do that tomorrow.
What would any of you do now?

Oh it is bs that they hired someone else; the pile is just higher that they didn't call you. I'd say just for giggles you should invoice them a $50 fee for non-notification of cancellation during eom. You'll probably never see it but time is money and you could have taken another assignment in it's place.

Get a mobile set up in your car and a laptop w/ wireless internet.
By doing this, I have reduced my stress level a huge heap. Although, it's hard to check your email traveling west to the turnpike when the sun is going down.
Disclaimer: It is not safe to read email while driving. Unfortunately, I find myself doing it on a regular basis.

Pick your battles carefully. Maintain your professionalism and contact TC/lender to say that they could have called to let you know they got someone else to do the signing. After all, they would have expected a phone call from us if we couldn't after having accepted the assignment.

The same type of thing happened to me over the last few days. I was asked to do a signing on Wednesday @ 6pm edocs. Okay, 4pm rolls around , no docs. SS calls and says escrow will not have docs done in time, will email in the am. please change appt with BO. Ok, I did. New appt set for 6pm Thurs. I updated SS. Waited all day for docs. Received docs. Received email to disregard docs they weren't for me. Waited for more docs. 4pm rolls around I reply and ask what's going on. Title replies and says I don't know, were you assigned to a job? "Of course I was assigned to a job, I received docs once and was told to disregard!" I assumed the whole time that there had been an error in the docs. 5pm Title emails back - signing has been cancelled. Two minutes later SS calls, and says there was a miscommunication and another notary has been hired for the sigining!!!!GRRRR!
