Western Union, No Longer Sending Telegrams?
I've just been to the official website and there is a message saying they'll no longer send telegrams just money transfers, effective January 27, 2006. I was just wondering how borrowers will now cancel their loans at the last minute if they decide not to go forward. The time and date of cancellation is on the telegram. Does an e-mail carry the same weight? Some people (believe it or not) don't have computers!

I've never thought of sending a telegram to cancel. I would simply make sure the letter is post marked before midnight of the third day and send it certified, sig req'd.

I have always planned on Faxing it in with a phone call and e-mail to back up each one.

Your right Charm, but I've had RTCs stating on the forms the borrowers should send a telegram if they want to cancel at the eleventh hour. Maybe I'm worrying too much about nothing.

Evidently there are other companies who send telegrams! I've just never thought of anyone else in the business.

I never would have thought of sending a telegram, either. I'm sure most just use the postmark or a fax or something that can insure the date be marked.

77% of the money they send goes to Mexico. Think on that for a minute.
