"Uninvited" Signing!!!
I just got back to my apartment and found a FedEx package for me in the front of my door. Low and behold it's documents that need to be signed and sealed tonight!!! I never even got asked whether or not I wanted to go do it. What kind of crap is that?????
Granted it's within ten miles, but STILL, PRINCIPAL! If you want something done, then ask. Don't assume!!!!
I checked out the reputation of the SS and they pass! So I'll do it just this once. I called the BO and asked them if they will be available. They said they would.................so why not?
Anyone ever been through the "uninvited" dilemma?

I'd say your in a great position to negotiate your fee!

You don't even know what the fee will be--
--and you have no confirmation that you were even hired to do the job.
"Las Vegas" is within 10 miles of your door. I differ with the post from Marla. It's hard to negotiate a fee after the fact, if, as it seems, the signing service/title co. is closed for the weekend.

Re: Should I decline the signing or continue with it?
If you feel the ss/tc is trustworthy and made an honest mistake, you can probably count on getting paid what you are usually paid for the job.
I wonder if another notary isn't going to collide with you at the door, who maybe got email docs for the same job?

Re: Should I decline the signing or continue with it?
that would be a heck of a note!! I wonder who would win in a notary brawl? Me or the other notary? hmmm... I guess I'll have to wait to find out.
The SS is trustworthy. Since it's close, I'll show up. If another notary is there, I'll just knock him/her down with my hand-held pocket seal and toss a business card their way so they know who they're messing with. LMAO j/k
If another notary shows up and I leave, I wonder if the SS will give me my cancellation fee?
Thanks for your time.

No confirmation = no closing (=no pay?)

As I said, it's a trip to Vegas.
If it was an unknown, untrustworthy company, I'd have my doubts.

First you have no trouble getting paid from Sign on the X, now you have documents showing up on your doorstep out of the blue?
It's nice to see you're as full of shit as you ever were.

Consider yourself lucky! There are many out there that would love a chance to get an "extra" closing. If you plan to be a AS, your "time" is NOT your own. You must comply to the wishes of those you work for. Also consider the poor, uninformed borrower, that probably WANT'S the loan. I believe we as "public officals" must act in a fiduciary capacity, and at least owe them some consideration.
