almost made it through signing without incident ...

Signing at 4:30 p.m. Young kids with 5-month baby. BTW, everyone in their 20's are kids to me. Baby cranky and not happy sitting in walker. Mom picks baby up and signing continues with one arm/hand holding baby, while Dad holds paper for Mom to sign.

Baby getting crankier and begins chewing on *my* pen, which now belongs to BOs. Trying to hurrying through signing, BOs and my own signature are getting worse.

Down to about 10 pages and able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, Baby decides to grab and crumple paper while Mom signing.

Mom begins nursing baby. Everyone happy, signing continues and I walk out the door 5 minutes later.

Well, she should have done that in the first place!

I've had a few new moms that were embarrassed to nurse while we were signing. Little do they know that a crying baby is way more distracting!

Re: Well, she should have done that in the first place!

I didn't understand either -- with my initial call Monday evening, I got their VM and never received a confirmation call back, so yesterday afternoon I called Dad at work to make sure they knew I was coming. He advised that Mom would be back and forth during the signing putting the baby to sleep. Now granted, it has been a very long time since I had a infant, but I know that I never wanted to put mine down at 4:30 in the afternoon. With that said, I reconfirmed with Dad that he knew I was coming at 4:30 and not 7:00, and he said yes, 4:00.

The original signing was scheduled at 7:00 p.m. and BOs opted to change it to 4:30 p.m. while TC was talking with me. Now with both working and just walking through the door, 4:30 might be good for older children or childless couples, but if they normally put the baby down as soon as they get home, a 4:30 signing seems absurd to me.

They were just signing and dating and not even glancing at what they were signing.

signing distractions come in all shapes and sizes! I have a bunch of memories about trying to just get thru it! My fav was the one on a lace table cloth with their three year old on top of the table, I kept thinking, man, if this was my kid....another where the borower yelled at her son throughout the signing for running around. Never got up to do anything about it

Then my second fav was the dog that gave me a foot bath thru my sandals while I was trying to concentrate. I'm an animal lover but I really felt like kicking this dog off me! The owner kept saying stop that puppy, stopppp. Yeah right, I wanted to tell her to put him in another room or on her lap. I know he lives there and I don't but wouldn't it be a courtesy if the owner would control their pet(s) and kids?

I had no problem with the woman nursing -- just don't know why she didn't do it before I got there, or from the get-go.

I love animals too...1 dog and 3 cats myself, but I also have my yellow lab trained...the cats just go lay in a corner.

I was at a signing where there were 5 dogs. 2 were outside...no problem. One of the 3 inside was a boy dog and he kept trying to "jump" on the girl dogs....next to me on the couch. There was no other place to sign but on the couch where they cleared off a small corner of the coffee table for me to set up "shop".

Mom/Dad/baby signing last night was on a sectional couch. However, instead of a coffee table, it was one of those huge cloth/soft ottoman deals. We had to pass my hard notary journal around with each doc when signing and stamping my seal.

Now you can get a better picture of Mom holding baby, Dad holding page for Mom to sign, baby grabbing paper, and Mom nursing while Dad continues to hold paper for Mom to sign.

You ask too much, Charm, LOL. Courtesy to a lowly SA? Sometimes I think the hiring party MUST have a convesation with the brw's, saying "you don't have to try to impress HER, she's JUST the notary", hence all the yucky homes with their filth and odor, the unruly pets and kids, et. al.
Sometimes I feel lucky if I get out of there w/o a scratch!
That is why I drink so much when I caome to this site, hiccup!
