I don't know Me, but if I were an SS, I would avoid a name like "Signature Plus" in any way, shape or form. If someone took that name, I would question their experience in the industry.

My only experience with SignaturesPlus

I feel obligated to report my experience with SignaturesPlus. I took a call December 28, 2005 while on the road. Did not personally know about their reputation so I accepted. The fee was little lower than I normally take but it was relatively close so I accepted. Once I got back to my office to download the docs, I did a search on NotRot and had one of those out of body experiences where the walls start to breathe and the floor shudders.

I called SignaturesPlus and expressed my concern over their tainted reputation. I requested a statement from them with their letterhead promising payment within 30 days of closing. The agent told me that she could not do that and no one was in the office that could approve my request. The red flag wasted no time getting to the top of the flagpole. I let the agent know that unless they cold provide a promise to pay our agreed upon fee in writing within 30 days of close I would have to back out. She said they couldn't so I backed out. I had called the borrower on my way back to my office to confirm the time, directions yada yada and when to expect me so I felt it necessary to call the borrower back to let them know that I had backed out. The borrower was very upset and wanted to know why I was backing out. I chose my words very carefully and told the borrower that the agency I was subcontracting with was unwilling to give me a written guarantee of payment for my services so I would have to decline. The borrower said she understood. 5 minutes later I got a call from a very irate broker. While I was explaining the situation to the broker, I got a call form Maureen Ferraro with SignaturesPlus. She agreed to send a letter guaranteeing payment within 30 days of close. Must admit I was skeptical but I went ahead and did the closing.

Maureen followed thru with her end of the deal. I received a check on the first of February. To the best of my knowledge it has cleared.

As an owner of two small businesses, I have had my share of tough times and have been guilty of slow payment a time or two. I did awards for a huge golf tournament once for a very well known non-profit organization and it took them over 100 days to pay me. Made it real tough to pay my creditors since I was out over $7500.00 in material costs ( I did say I have a “small” business). Don’t know if SignaturesPlus will ever call me again but if they do, I will trust them to pay until they prove otherwise.

Re: My only experience with SignaturesPlus

We routinely request that an ss or tc include a proposed date of payment within their confirmation or seprate email, and explain that our firm will not down load/print the edocs until we receive it. Generally we have had no problem with this procedure. When the agreed date of payment arrives we send the ss or tc an email requesting status of payment with a copy their written promised payment date attached to it. This is usually enough to get payment on the agreed date. There have been a few instances of footdragging, requiring more aggressive collection procedures, but they have been in the minority.
