All Indiana Signing Agents

I am working on an Indiana Notary Association. I like what I have seen with Florida's and think that we should unite also. NNA will not list whether we have a Title License or not, so I am working with a web developer to have that in our listings. This is what the companies will be looking for when they want a closing done in the future.

Please email me [e-mail address] if you are interested.

A Notary Association for Notaries!! Yeah! Can I please be your mascot for the betterment of Professional Notaries everywhere.

Good for you Toni, if only everyone would be "like minds."

Wait!!!

I think that the best thing anyone can do is to try and organize. Unfortunately as I check the link to the Florida Mobile Notary Association it also it does not appear to be set up as a mutual benefit society but as a for-profit corporation. Unless I am mistaken it appears to be just another clone of the already numerous listing sites. I hope that your idea for an Indiana Signing agents association wold be more of a true society by notaries for notaries. Please correct me if I'm wrong but until notaries set up some kind of organization, memberships, VOTING rights, representatives, ELECTED officials etc. ONLY then will there be a true mutual benefit society. How can one benefit the membership if there is no vertical integration of members thoughts and ideas?

Union - No! Professional organization - Si!

Unions have their place but I believe that a professional organization is the way to go. I have been proselytizing about this for some time now and there are those who keep saying that the current status quo i what we have to live with so we had better get used to it. I disagree. If the coal miners had never stood up to the coal mine owners in the mid 1800's they would still be owned by the company store, and there are many examples. In my scenario I would start at a very local level and contact another notary or two and star getting together to discuss the state of the business. Invite other who you respect as fellow professionals to join you for these discussions. When you get a regular group of about 10 form a formal structure, elect a president (call it what you want, just follow Robert's Rules of Order loosely) and a Secretary /Treasurer/VP. You need someone to moderate a discussion (president) and someone to keep track of what's happening (Secretary) the money, if any (treasurer) and to sit in for the moderator when the moderator can't make it. Call them what you will but those are the initial necessary functions for a formal group. Write up a constitution (just put down your purpose and what you want to accomplish) and have a regular democratic process for getting things done. The pick a local issue, agree on it and do what you decide. Its not complicated, it just needs to be formalized and the reason it needs to be formalized is for respect. When you address something as a group you become a powerhouse. If you write to your local legislator it is much more effective to say that you represent a group (many constituents) than if you represent yourself (one constituent). Also other businesses will want to be in good with an organization and therefor provide perks.

Initially just get together and discuss your personal issues, you will find that other have the same issues. The organization will happen and if I can help in any way let me know: I've been an incorporator for several corporations and have been in a number of organizations as an officer and as an individual member. I have no pecuniary interest but I wold like to see some organization because if you read these boards the same problems keep coming up and organization would minimize these problems.

Re: srnotary & Charles! I'm in CO and I would join something!!

I think that Charles and a few others were trying to get something going?? Then I never saw anything on the board.
I would sure like to know where to start, maybe Charles and the other's could help with some ideas. Think I will start researching for some information. I've never been a Union member perhaps that's a place to start??? I would think that's somewhat related to starting to organize an independent group.

Have a signing shortly! but I will return to board later. So let's put our thinking-caps on and see what we come-up with.

I'm tired of feeling hopelessly, helpless with this Notary Profession and have to much invested to turn back now.

See you Later!!

I don't know if a union would be a great idea. Atleast for me. We are working on something, it just takes time to put things together and getting ideas in place. Any input would be welcomed warmly.

Re: Wait!!! Charles...

I still like the idea of notaries in each state belonging to their own organization and having a delegate represent the group for national meetings or pow wows. Also, forming a website of notaries available where it is marketed to TC's and SS's.

agree...

I know we talked about it previously, and I said I would take names/emails of those interested and a group of us talked about getting a small chat session together to go over some things for the necessities and outline the basics but that was before the holidays and I think that wasn't a fair time to organize it since that is pretty busy for most.
If still interested, I have a list started and have just hung onto it since I have been working on other things that have kept me busy at the present, but I had intended contacting the core group that discussed this before at the beginning of this year....just planned on more like 2-3 weeks from now to bring up again if anyone was still interested in talking about it.

any thoughts.....Charm? Charles?...BrendaTx? RogerOH? Paw?

It's tough over the holidays, some orgs suspend

meetings in December others don't have a meeting if its immediately preceding or following a holiday. But its important to keep the ball rolling so I suggest that you just go for it. It doesn't have to be fancy and if you can only get one or two together just do an informal coffee shop get-together. The important thing is to get a dialog going between like-minded people. Good luck!

I hate to burst your bubble, But they will keep using illegal notaries. Look at the current post for Maryland. You will have some people who think they are above the law.
