Apology to Charm
I misread your "crybaby" comment and I apologize. I assumed you were referring to the poster and not the borrower. So, I will be more careful from now on.
I must say, though, that it's a easy mistake to make because the forum seems to direct so many negative comments at each other. I think it's fine to trash a borrower, ss, tc, lo, lender I just don't like it when SA's insult each other. I guess I'm strictly business. I mainly use this site for advertising referrals but also to keep track of the slow paying companys. I charge them more just because they pay late

sniff....apology accepted. I don't insult the regulars and try not to insult the anons. I love Carolyn and many others here, for their professionalism, advice and down right tell it like it is attitudes. I feel that I'm a genuine down to earth girl and for me, this is what stands out in the posters I've come to know, love and depend on!
Happy signings....
Now leave me alone, got to find today's OT oh the pain

You'll soon learn not to read too much into some of the posts.

I've been reading these post for two years....
and at times they are extremely unprofessional which is something that I personally can't ignore. We all have different opinions, Thank God, we have that right. If you read how some folks talk to each other, as an observer, it's quite embarrassing.

If you've only been reading and not posting, then you haven't developed the *relationship* many of us have with one another. 99% of us have never met one another, although we do know each other. We support one another *when needed* and we kick one another in the rear *when needed.*
As for the rudeness and unprofessionalism we may show newbies, if many of them showed any professionalism on their own part, many of the posts would not be necessary on either side of the fence.

Re: I've been reading these post for two years....
It must also be frustrating to see all of these newbies coming in and changing this industry the way they have. From my viewpoint, it is a disaster because when we hire new closers, some of these newbies will deliberately lie so that we will give them a shot. On paper, they look like they are a Carolyn or a Charm when in fact, they have literally no clue what they are doing. Some come in with these incredibly ridiculous fees, which in turn has changed the rate of pay for some of the SS's. Heck I would be a little frustrated too...
Although there are some newbies who are out their to make this their career and really know their stuff than their are others who really have no business closing loans.

Re: I've been reading these post for two years....
Sherry I can certainly appreciate that statement. When your starting out you really have to understand that integrity and honesty are of the utmost importance. I could have totally lied when I was three months into this and said I had 87 signings when in fact I was only at about 11. But I took those two characteristics seriously and said to myself "I'm not doing that. It's the truth and nothing but". The thing that those who do lie don't realize is it will come back and bite them in the butt and shorten thier career. With so many newbies now they just have to realize that it's not instant bucks, it will take time. Most small businesses are lucky to break even in the first year. You have to be ready to face that reality, if your not then go find something else to do.

Hey..who likes starting a new career???
There are a lot of struggles when you are first starting out....I have talked to many newbies on the phone and I tell them that there are many SS's out there that woud be willing to hire them without much experience. I am just not one of them. I have no problem pointing them in the right direction, giving them tips and telling them to come back when they have like 100 under their belt but it is a huge risk and liabilty for me to work with someone who has no clue what they are doing. That is my name and reputation on the line and I cant afford to ruin it.

Re: Hey..who likes starting a new career???
That is the problem with a lot of notaries. They come in expecting the big bucks but then realise they aren't going to get them right now. As for the few that did their research before coming into this business it makes it hard to get a company to trust you enough to give you more work. I am still "new" but I read this board and ask questions so that I can do my job properly. I try not to ask stupid "newbie questions. As far as wanting a notary to have 100 signings under their belt that is your perogative. I understand where you are coming from. But from a newbie who is working hard to make this a career you should not base your impression on the new recruits who want the big bucks and barely passed their tests. Here comes the boast......I missed one question on my notary exam (and kicked myself because I new I had answered it wrong) and I think one on the signing agent certification test. I still do my research and If I am still not sure I ask. I may get blasted for it but that is fine because in with the blasting I get good useful information. The struggles we face with a new career are par for the course and to be expected. JMHO

Re: Hey..who likes starting a new career???
How am I supposed to differentiate between the newbies who are like you and the newbies who have no clue? I am not trying to discriminate because I was there once myself but in the 3 years that I have owned my SS, I have had soooooo many issues with newbies who messed up (so much so that I have lost some big clients over it).

Re: Hey..who likes starting a new career???
I unserstand that. I was not saying you were discriminating. I just got on my soap box for a sec. Sorry. Maybe some kind of test or a few verbal questions. Something a notary worth their salt will know how to answer. Just a thought.

Re: Hey..who likes starting a new career???
No need to apologize. We do have an interview process (written and verbal) but even the worst notaries can pull off a good interview...just come on this board and read..you'll figure out the lingo really quickly (not you personally). This doesnt mean that you will know the laws for your specific state. Heck there was a poster a week or so ago that basically told me that her and her associate lied on our online app about what type of printer she had just so we would work with her. You just never know. I wasnt this jaded a few years ago, but I unfortunately, I have had to harden my shell quite a bit in this business.

I understand completely. And it is true that alot of people can pull of a good interview. so it is better to be sae than sorry in the long run.
