Colorado SA's....
Do any of folks here in CO know which state tax form/brochure I would find info re tax exemption for notary? I have the Fed brochure, but have called NNA a couple of times to no avail. "Have to get the info from a supervisor, and they are in a meeting"!! (So much for their customer/member service). Also, tried the State of Colorado - Notary and they do not have the info either. They suggested I call the Dept of Rev....which could be a long wait on hold. Just thought I would check with you before resorting to that!
Thanks a bunch....in advance!

Brad/CA
Thanks for the info. I searched around on the website and did not find any info re notary fee exemption. However, NNA returned my call and told me that it is only an exemption thru the Feds - not a state exemption. Were you aware of that?

Re: NNA
I don't put too much stock in the validity or truthfullness of what the NNA says. When it comes to biz taxes, that is why I put my stock and money in the hands of a CPA.

Re: NNA
Carolyn, would you believe our CPA that we have used for several years was not aware of the notary fee exemption. I agree with you re the NNA! The link that Les posted for IRA has the info for the Federal tax exemption. So, I will give that info to our CPA.

Re: CPAs
For years I always did our own taxes. However, in 1992 when I began my *self-employment* or as my husband called it for the first few years *unemployment* I went the route of a CPA. I still pre-do everything myself and she normally just plugs in the figures. She has found a few more things that I was unaware of. Additionally, I feel more comfortable for her to do the prorating business part of the house, etc. Having her name with CPA on our taxes just makes me feel a lot more confident.

Re: CPAs
That's funny Carolyn. That sounds like my husband when I first started with the notary bus. I would say I have to go to a "signing" and he would joke around that I was visiting my psychic!! So, now I just say "I have a job to do".
