Has Anyone checked out Ohio for pricing?

They start at $100, add $50 for edocs, after 9p they add another $50.

We need to start asking for more up front. As long as there are new notaries that will work for $50 a closing the rest of us that have the experience don't stand a chance.

How many times have you looked at the HUD and see that the signing company is making much more than you who are doing the work? That's just wrong.

Ohio has a specific pricing structure?
First of all, we set our own fees...then you have to look at demographics and see what the competition is and what they are taking. This is the one thing that can kill your business. There are some real low-ballers around me that are working for minimum wage. I know this because the 'supervisors' apparently are not 'approving' my fees, and I consider my fees fair to both them and me.
It doesn't matter what the HUD says as long as you are getting your quoted/required fee.

I have NO idea what this poster is referring to. Who is "They"??

There is no set structure in Ohio, or any other state for that matter. As independent contractors, each of us sets our own fee schedule.

The fees on the HUD don't always tell the whole story, either.

I have to agree, I've heard nothing about a set pricing model in Ohio.

I think someone's drinking too much kool-aid.

Re: They -- they who ??

YOU are the only one who sets your fees. They are either accepted or rejected by the SSs and TCs.

As for the signers with experience not standing a chance with the lowballers, the quality of your work speaks for itself. Sure there are lowball companies that will automatically go with the cheapest rate, but they are getting what they are paying for -- and the companies willing to pay our requested rates know that !!

Re: Can I move to Ohio?

If they have a fee standard, then I wouldn't have to deal with lowball companies anymore, right?

I know, ...it's only a dream Smiley

Signing Services dont always make what the HUD states...

I have run across quite a few TC's that "cushion" these fees. For example, I may be charging $150 for a closing, paying the closer $100 but the HUD states that the fee is $300...Where does that extra $150 go? Your guess is as good as mine.

Also, I wasnt aware of any standard fees in Ohio either.

Re: Signing Services dont always make what the HUD states...

The settlement fee which usually includes the title co. fee for preparation of HUD etc and mobile notary fees (unless the sa fees are listed seperately on the HUD, which they many times are not) if it is inflated it goes to the title co. But when the settlement fee is all lumped together you really can't tell if signing fee is inflated. For instance I am doing a double today. The settlement fee on the 1st is for $450, the 2nd, $150 for a total of $600. I am getting $225, so the rest goes to tc. The only way you can really tell is when the notary fee is listed seperate and it is inflated. But again, it goes to the title co. As it is listed in the title co. fee portion of the hud.
