Just kvetching about last minute calls!
I got a couple of calls shortly after 11:00 a.m. today from a title/signing company's automated system looking for a notary to close a loan at 4 p.m. today. Fee: $45.00 (for air express docs) - Representative will call shortly if docs are to be electronically delivered. Turned it down 2 (or maybe 3) times through the automated system. At 11:34 a.m., I receive a call from a human being. I told this person that I could handle a 4 p.m. closing, but would need the docs by 2:30, as I had a 5 p.m. scheduled right behind it and, therefore, could not be late to the 4 p.m. for lack of docs; otherwise, if docs were late, I could accomodate their closing after my 5 p.m., at 6 p.m. Quoted a fee of $90.00. She would "check about the docs and everything" (i.e., my fee!) and let me know. Never heard another word!
At 12:18, I get a call from another company who wants me to do a 6 p.m.. "Sure", I say, "I'll need docs by 3:30..." Explained that if docs were late, I could still accomodate, but would have to come back after 5 p.m., print docs and then do loan closing about 8:30 (as I also have a 7 p.m.). She said she'd check about docs and let me know. (She never asked about my fee.) I've heard nothing since.
I guess I must be out of line asking for lenders to "get their docs in a row" 2 1/2 hours prior to a loan closing!

Oops! Before anyone else notices...On the first one, I only wanted the docs 1 1/2 hours before closing!

sometimes they call for a last minute signing and end up getting me the documents the next day.

Thanks for the laugh (as in, if I don't laugh, I'll cry!), Patricia! Do they want you to back date your notarization, too?

once in a very great while a loan rep will ask, just I just say no, they can move-on if they want to.

Re: Just kvetching about late calls.
Not exactly the same but had a guy call last night at 10:45 pm with a one notarized document to do. He was pretty insistent that he come on over and get it done. I did not feel okay about him coming here after 11 pm. I told him I'd come to him tomorrow, but he could not come to me... there'd be a travel charge and he'd be better off going to UPS Store and More - $6 and I'd charge him between $30 and $50. "But what if I just come to you."
No, no, a thousand times no. I usually let college kids come by but this guy did not even want to accept that UPS would be a much better deal for him. Then he wanted me to look up the UPS phone number for him. I asked him how he found me. "on the internet." Now...was he already on his way to me when he called because he needed me to look up the number on the internet.
Who knows.
