Know it all mortgage reps
Sorry guys just venting here. Went to a settlement last evening. Closing is at 4PM at Mortgage Broker's office. I get docs at 4:30PM. Show up at 5 for the closing. Between taking the time to print the docs and drive to the closing I show up at 5. The mortgage broker is huffy and fustrated because he had to wait an hr. (give me a break its not my fault you and the lender want to be snake oil slime balls that do everything at the last minute). I then proceed to go thru the paper work and the SOB throws a bunch of papers in front of my face - a quit claim deed, aff of title, aff. of consider,et. al. (yes i was aware from the title company that hired me that there was a quit claim and the docs that follow it) First of all you dont just throw something in someones face while they are looking down at their docs. Well I in my Ann Landers kinda way remarked oh I guess you would like my attention. Well the cat caught his tounge on that one. It was a polite and subtle way of saying dont be such a you know what. Well then he starts to rush and says we need to get the one grantor out of here becuase she has been up since 10 PM last evening. Im like ok wait lets stop there is no rushing when Im at a settlement becuase when you rush you make mistakes when i rush I do the same. Its human nature. I explained we will get the one grantor out as quickly as possible. (btw she didnt have a problem with the time nor with anything i said). Well we get that blasted quit claim done and all. and then I go to the borrower to start things and the broker interupts in his pumppas you know what attitude and says"ill take care of that" By that point the poor dear old Anne Landers kinda attitude went out the door with me and i said no you wont handle anything Im the closing agent and I will do what I want to when I want to and You will sit back and listen in a stern but professional manner. So since he wanted to do the package I pulld out my aff. of sign/name and a few other things that the borrower had to fill things in ( minute` things such as his mailing address,etc.).; once I had him fill them out and sign I said ok here you go, now you can have the package to go over with the borrower if you wish. The borrower looked at me and smiled in a sense of thank you for putting this prick in his place. Nearing the end of the closing the broker finally realized who I was.... Besides doing closings which i consider a very rewarding profession in itself I am also a local top producing real estate broker. Well by golly after he realized who I was his whole attidude changed. Apparently he realized in the local real estate community I pull a considerable amount of weight and can make his life a royal living you know what ( and thats not to sound conceided or anything just letting folks know how Real Estate agents/Brokers, and particularly those who are Realtors can impact, influence and effect a mortgage broker, lender, direct lender, etc.). Amazing how sudden a person's attidude can change.
Before leaving the borrower thanked me for helping him in a very gracious manner. You could tell he really appreciated it. Its that kinda feeling you get that you cant describe but makes you even that much more proud of the profession(s) you are in- IT makes you proud.
Well needless to say what a totaly jacka$$ that broker was and how dare they act like they are above you and then to wanting to kiss your rear. I hate that. We are all equal and deserve respect.
OK guys SOOOO SORRRY for my LOOONNGGG Venting but had to get it out in a constructive manner.
PS. I know I have gramatical and spelling mistakes in here but Im crunch for time and cant proof read my thoughts. My appologies in adance.

I sympathize. It's funny how the LOs consider SA to
be beneath them. I to am a real estate broker and have had just the same thing happen. I've actually sat across the table from an LO in my office who had gone off with major attitude because he was an LO and I was only a notary. The attitude rapidly changes when I pass my RE business card to the LO and then you should see them blanch when I also give my Sr LO business card. Most of these LOs are taught that the only way they are going to get business is to cultivate us Realtors and then when they realize that they just showed us what asses they are ...well, its just priceless. I love Real Estate, all aspects of it!

You let it all out honey! We all have to deal with a** h**** like that once in a while and sometimes we just need to throw our hands in the air and let out a big scream. He made you feel uncomfortable and treated you with utter disrespect by looking down on you. Just brush it off and forget about it.

I sure did it all out. Thanks for the support and ears everyone. Fake people make me sick hehehehe. ok maybe that was just a little harsh. The face on the LO's face when he realized who I was, was just priceless. Not even American Express could captivate and renact that priceless moment lol
Have a wonderful day and weekend everyone! You guys are great! I wish there was a board like this for real estate brokers and agents.

It's a good thing that many of them realize that we can be their new best friend!! Got a call from a title company the other morning, "Dorothy, I just heard from the LO that you never showed up at the Smith closing last night". My reply, "that's odd, because he was on the phone with the borrower when I arrived and I heard him say, "She here right now"; then later in the signing there was a question and he called the LO and he had to have his manager call us back!"

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall.
You truly seem to be a genuine person and an asset to this profession. My hat is off to you.
