Lisa Bittner, SoCal Signings...Great Company
I just want to go on record here and now as saying it has been a pleasure to work with Lisa. We have only done one signing together and what could have been a nightmare situation looks like it will be resolved with respect and courtesy.
Wish there were more SS's out there like that! Lisa you give the term "signing service" new meaning! Thank you.
Amanda

The Flip Side of Bittner
I received a call from Lisa some time ago and asked to do a signing (a last minute deal). I contacted the borrower to confirm the appointment and found out that he was Spanish-speaking. I called Lisa back and explained I could not speak Spanish and would not be able to do the signing.
She got pissed beyond belief and told me she did signings all the time and I should have the loan officer on the phone to translate. I reminded her that in CA notaries are required to be able to communicate directly with the borrower. She told me that she'd find someone else and that would be the last time she would contact me.
I'm posting anon due to the fact that most people here have either not had this experience with her or are willing to look the other way because she pays in a timely manner. She's a star here and I'm sure I will be bashed for posting the truth.

I don't understand the cloak of anonymity if it happened it happened. I'd be interested in hearing the 2nd side of the story. I have never worked for Lisa so if she called me I wouldn't make my mind up from reading one bad experience. Although we work very hard and do our best we are imperfect and the same is true for ss companies. Every once in a while the planets aren't aligned and things go wrong.

I agree that every once in a while the planets aren't aligned and things go wrong. I don't turn down work from a company because I've read on a board that a company is a no or slow pay. I have no idea if the notary posting did his or her job correctly. They could have screwed up and that's why they did not get paid.
Anon stated his or her reason for posting Anon and I can understand and accept the reason. I think the "if" Lisa did indeed say she would not contact this individual again, Anon may be afraid Lisa would contact other signing services and ruin this individuals reputation because of the posting on this thread.
What if you (anyone) went to a closing and discovered you could not communicate with the borrower, how likely would you be to contact the SS and tell them that you were refusing to go through transaction and the SS would need to find another SA? What if the SS was a CA notary telling you she signs borrowers who can't speak English all the time and to contact a LO to translate for you?
In this business integrity comes first. I would expect a SS founded and managed by a CA notary would adhere personally and professionally to State mandated laws and that as a SS would want to hire and work with notaries with knowledge and integrity.

Re: SaraBeth_CA
As a point of some small interest, I do remember this Anon poster, I know who SHE is and I remember the conversation clearly.
There are always some who will remember things diferently than how they really happened. There was more to this story that meets the eye. I respect the right to state her complaint.
Just as a side note, 1. I am not a star here in notaryrotary land, as most of what I add is bashed by a few regulars. 2. In the years I have been running my business I have only told one s/a I would not be calling again and it was not this Anon poster. 3. I do not play the blame game, I take ownership.
