MAYBE we should encourage the NNA to
market and spit out more newbies? (lol)
Why? Well the ONLY reason I would say that is because of this...
I think the signing and closing companies are scrambling because they see things changing and they realize that more and more TC's, LO's and Lenders are contacting directly with the NSA's, or using the BIG respectable signing companies due to so many errors and those companies have it together.
I had 3 corrections this week and already 2 scheduled next week to go out and correct something someone else screwed up. It seems to come in waves but getting $50 for one document (mortgage's seem to be the majority) and driving 6-11 miles, I'll do it. And two of those I never got out of my car. One of them the borrowers met me in a Menards parking lot and wanted me to just call when I drove into the lot since they were shopping and would just run out quick. (???anyone else got a faster appt??lolol) And then I tell the company that I want all their work because I won't mess it up & to always call me first and they must since I get mroe and more from them. What a fantastic start to a mutually, beneficial relationship. See, who says a notary who does "trash" work can't end up being my "treasure"? Thank you NNA.
(no, I don't want the industry flooded, but the little businessman in my head says "print a 5-15 page document and take 3 minutes tops for $50 ...that equates to nice $ will very little expense) (one next week will be overnighted)

I have always said there is nothing wrong with a $50 signing as long as the docs are an overnight heloc, no fax backs, are within 10 miles and no annoying phone calls every five minutes asking "are your there yet". Maybe I am just lucky or there are some really bad notaries out there, but ALL of the corrections I get seem to require the whole damn loan package to be resigned and for that I get full fees. Serves them right for not accepting my fees the first time.

Good Morning Lawrence ! Like I was saying yesterday, and like you and I were saying Months ago! God help the companies hiring these Newbies - and NNA who feeds them a line of "Bull Hockey" and then just cuts'um loose to reek havoc.
The up-side is they sure are great for business! You can't help but feel sorry for the BWRS they are the ones that "pay the price" for this nonsense. As for the Lowball companies that hire them (Gee! they sure got a bargain! NOT) and you are right "should of hired us in the first place." Don't know about you, but I charge my Full fee for these redos-and I don't care if it's 10 pages or 100 pages. The simple reason is Time-Distance (gas creeping up again)-and the added stress of dealing with bwrs that are at their wits end! It's sad but you can't do them for less (they are burning up your appointment slots)
To add intrest to the whole mess- lenders now have the Free Press time courtesy of Ameriquest to contend with. The average "lay person" is not well versed in the loan process anyway. Any hint of impropriety by ANY lender is just a red flag and sadly throws everyone in the same catagory (not to be trusted)
It's imperative that we (the Notary) be Professionals in every respect. Your appearance, knowledge to guide the bwrs through the process, your whole demeaner has an effect on that loan closing. We are in a majority of these signing the ONLY Person these bwrs every see in person. Internet and phone conversations are NO replacement for one on one contact with a bwr. We really DO either close or kill the loan. Notaries, in my opinion don't get the respect they truly deserve. This is a very hard job with long hours, traveling and dealing every personality type you can imagine. Not to mention the people you have to work with at all the different compainies creating the loans.
This Profession is just not for everyone, it takes special people to handle it. Professional, personable, flexable, organized, intelligent, ability to work independently and able to "think on their feet." The NNA should and all these conditions to their ads.
PS: Forgot to mention-Dress Sharp and Look Good through-out the process! lol
Best To You

I agree with you but the down side is that all SA's get a bad rep when the newbies (Or even seasoned SA's or the TC) screw up the paperwork. Then you have to explain to the borrower why the entire process has taken so long and had so many screwups along the way. By the time we get to these folks they have really been through the mill.........JMO (just my opinion
