Matricula Card

The Mexican government matricula card is it allowed here in Illinois? For an acceptable id? I have gotten conflicting answers. I run across this alot as a signing agent as I get a lot of assignments where borrowers request a spanish speaking notary.

The following is NOT to be construed as legal advice or legal opinion.

The IL Notary handbook does not specifically state what "identification documents" can and cannot be used. However, on page 29 of the handbook (Publication 1620) is states:

[quote]
How does a notary identify a signer?
A notary has satisfactory evidence if the person (1) is personally known to the
notary; (2) is identified by a credible witness personally known to the notary; or
(3) is identified on the basis of identification documents. Proper identification
should include a photograph and a signature on a reliable identification card,
such as a driver’s license.
[end_quote]

Boy, talk about vague. I guess I should be grateful for how anal retentive CA can be with their notary laws.
