Mortgagedocs.com
When they email you with a signing request can you email back with your desired fee? And, if you want more than the $50 fee they normally pay do they answer back or just email next notary

Hi Ali,
I have handled signings for mortgage docs for over a year. To answer your first question, I suppose you could email them back with your desired fee. But one of two things will probably happen. One someone else will probably accept the appointment. And secondly you may well not hear back from them. And I guess the answer to your second question would probably be in the negative also.
You should keep in mind that basically they are a $50 dollar company. That is the negative. But there are several positives. Almost all of the signings are Washington Mutual equity lines of credit, small packages that really don't take very long. And secondly they pay like clockwork - on the fifteenth of the month for work done the preceding month. And you don't have to send any invoices in. And I like their on-line sign-stat system.
I guess the appropriate approach, unless you are just starting and real hungry for business, is to try not to accept signings that are at a great distance. That way you will limit the time invested in each one.

Thanks,
Ted for your polite answer.
It will take some getting used to putting everything on their site.

one thing to keep in mind with the WAMU loans, they tend to book up alot of your time and then the documents never show up and they will never call you to let you know the signing has been canceled or postponed. At least this was my experience time and time again. I had to drop them as customers because of this, I turned down too many other appts in order to take care of theirs and then made nothing. very irritating and expensive.

MD is one of those companies that know someone out there will take it for $50 bucks no matter how far you have to travel. Many times I have been emailed for signings well over 100 miles one way and I could have kissed a pissed off grizzly bear easier then getting a higher fee.

Just my personal opinion, but I found MD signstat system to be a nuisance to work with. I know some notaries think it's great. And when emailing MD they have different addresses for different types of replies. And a reply directly to the signstat system is never addressed because it is an automated system that no one at MD looks at. A few months ago I wrote that MD always paid me but they were a cheap ($50) company. The MD owner John got upset about my comment and contacted Harry to complain. On a positive note, I no longer receive the spam emails MD sends out reminding notaries to correctly date the RTC, put your seal on mortgage, etc.

I ticked MD off too and have been kicked out of their SignStat system. When I called to ask why, I was told it was because I could not accomadate a re-sign (due to mis-spelled names on docs) and the scheduler was not happy. What-everrr! I'm sorry, I'm too busy scheduling closings that pay more than $50.
I am glad that I no longer receive the spam emails, as well. The best email was the one stating Florida required 2 witnesses on a Mtg. I had to call and email them to let them know they were mis-informed. Something tells me that may have had something to do with my demise.

Ali, Mine offered from MD are not HELOCs so I feel they are worth more than $50.
My fee is higher than $50 and is in their system in my higher amount. I asked them to do that so they would not give me the request and then not take the amount I bid to them.
This way, they don't contact me unless they have had to move up from $50...or at least that's the way I prefer to see it.
They do not expect me to go 50 miles for the same amount. They are fair on mileage with me and they pay on time.
