New Year brings new firsts for me....
Greetings every one, wish you all much success in 2006!
Well, my first two signings for the year are also firsts for me: I am doing a Heloc and that includes taking pictures of the property. 2) I am doing a CHASE split loan signing (nervous on this one). I am wondering by the SS saying it was a Chase signing was I supposed to know it was split signing automatically?
I am off to purchase a digital camera ( didn't receive it for Christmas) and something called a dock for it. Then I'll have to do research here on Helocs and splitting docs. It's funny, someone else mentioned this before, "If they agree to your fee right away you probably quoted low," I think I just did that on both cases.

Hi Jenny! Just a couple of thoughts on our camera. It has been my experience and i take a lot fo photos and have since 1963. I don't use a dock for my digital camera's I stick with the USB cord and load directly into my computer via Windows XP pro. I look for a camera with the greatest amount of pixels in the price range I am looking at and then I look at the optical zoom. For me because I do a lot of photography the resolution (number of pixels) and the optical zoom are most important. I also like to have different lenses. I recentl purcahsed a Kidak Z740 (it came as a surprise to me) whihc has 10 to 1 optical zoom and 5.1 megapixels which is actually comparable to one of my Nikons (D70s). The Kodak camera offered accessory lenses (I use the Kreuznach Schnieder wide angle a lot).
Depending on your needs I can download directly from my Kodak to my computer and manipulate the photos (I use both Corel Graphics Suite and Irfanview) in my computer (Irfanview is FREE and does a lot!) and then crop or adjust the color. I can dodge on my computer (lightening or darkening small areas of the photo) and then you can either print it out on a photographic printer or include it directly in your documentation.
If you would like some additional information please contact me off the forumy and I'd be glad to talk about to you.

Hi Jenny,
The only closing I have done that required photos was for a company that sent a disposable camera along with the documents. All I had to do was take the pictures and return the camera with the signed package.
Did you ask if you need your own camera? If you were going to buy one anyway, that's great. But if you're just buying it for this one assignment, I'd first ask if they are furnishing the camera.

Charles, I might just take you up on your offer and call you, I am too overwhelmed.
Betsy, A few months ago I did miss out on a signing because I did not have a digital. Today a person that I did two signings for last month informed me that she has a lot of Helocs in my area but I do need to be prepared/equipped with a digital camera in order to take pictures of the property.

Thanks for the heads up Jenny. That one time was the only time I've ever been asked and it was two years ago.
I'd need to get set up to do this, so it's something to think about if this is the wave of the future.
It wasn't for a mobile home, was it?

No, for a regular home. The ss said if was for the lenders to know that the property does in fact exist. This lender requested outside shots, the one I didn't get to do wanted inside and outside shots but it was more of a "drive by" appraisal deal, their loan was not big enough for an appraisal .
