OT: Might move to San Jose area

My husband was asked to apply for a position in San Jose we briefly talked about it and since I really didn't want to move he didn't bring it up anymore.

Well, his boss called him up today and he really wants him to be one of the contenders. I know my husband, I f he wants that job he'll get it. My question is this: how can I go about finding out of nice places to live, schools etc.

I am happy with my signing agent business here, is San Jose one of the saturated areas ?

My goodness I still avoid freeways as much as possible, I dread a move down there.

Thank you for opinions and suggestions. This means alot.

San Jose is expensive, just like everywhere else in the SF Bay Area. Home prices - even now, it's still ouch! If you are moving from a rural area of California be prepared for sticker shock.

San Jose is saturated with notarys, many of them fresh out of the NNA "Make Big Money" school. Competition is always agressive, especially for that great $50 fee.

The freeways are a fact of life, as is the heavy traffic. Traffic, traffic, all the time. The diamond lanes are here to stay for earlier and later time periods.

There are many nice places to live and some very good schools, and then like any major city, there are lots of places you probably don't want to live in. Talk to a Realtor.

Good luck!

I moved from Riverside County to Fresno County this summer and contacted the Chamber of Commerce in my new city and they sent alot of brouchers.
Regarding the schools, once you find the area you want to move to then call the school your kids would be attending and make sure they have room for them. You can buy in one area and if it is full (even from kids who have transfered from another school.) then your kid will have to go to a different school. My daughter was in one for two weeks then they said it was too full so she had to go to another then they said ok one kid left so now she can come back. That was the hardest part of our move on her. So kind of long but if I had to do it again that is what I would check out.
I asked my agent not to take me into areas where she would not live herself.
Hope this helps.

Thank you all.

John I emailed you. David the realtor suggestion is good, but if this happens my husband will have to move up there first and it might just have to be to an apartment since they need that position filled soon. Now I'll have to hunt for a realtor.

Cntrlcalntry: Which district did you move into? You said Fresno County, I am in the city of Fresno.
