OT-Salt & Soda

A few threads ago, there was something about the benifits of reading this forum. I myself commented about the things you could learn and not just about Notary. I submit the following as a follow up and perhaps an example, taken from a real estate forum.
"I think it was on CNN, on the weekend - that some miraculous thing has
occurred in dentistry that enables the dentist to assess the white blood
count in the mouth by having patients rinse with baking soda or salt. Then
the saliva is quickly tested and reveals if the patient has a gum disease or
not. Everything old is new again. Also, apparently the tartar collected on
natural teeth is some sort of indicator as to plaque heart/artery disorders.
Don't know what the exact affiliation is."

While growing up with not much money, we had to brush our teeth with salt and baking soda.

Didn't realize we were poor then, we did use baking soda and salt, just thought it was some remedy mom dreamed up, she has so many.

Actually, I think it soda works better than toothpaste. Sometimes, if my teeth feel icky right before time for my cleaning. I change back to soda because it seems to work better than the paste.
