San Diego County - changing date on deed

Doing a signing for a lender in SD County....confused because insructions say to change the date on first line of deed to todays date or else county won't record. I'm in a different county and I've never changed the date, it's usually dated prior to siging date. Feedback from SD notarys?

This should be ok. Only use date of signing and make sure borrowers initial any changes. Call the county if you want to.
