Title Companies and Mortgage Companies

I'am finding that title co's and mortgage co's have people "inside" doing all the their own signings. Also loan officers are doing there own signing's. (they are notories).
This in fact leaves no signing opportunities for the outside notary. This is not good. Any comments?

Don't think loan officers should be doing notarizations on loans they sold, anyone see a financial interest there?

Here in Ca, a Real Estate Agent can notarize the loan on a home they sold....

Not too sure that this would be acceptable for the loan officer as they actually have a part in the acceptance of the application/loan.....

Sounds to me to be too close to the fire~

Re: Carolyn's on the money

I only have 2 in-state TC I work with. The others are from other states. It takes a while to build up a good client list, but it does happen. Start out by signing up with some of the more reputable signing services. The list on the site is a good beginning. Good Luck.

I market to local title co.'s as well as out-of-state ones. You can market yourself with "Courtesy Signings". Or even let them know you are around when things pick up, here when you need us, gone when you don't.

Exp:Courtesy signing, is that a "freebie" or something else?

No, never a freebie. When title companies need a signing by their "sister" company in another state, the original title co. gets most the funds. The "sister" company has all this paperwork they are working on for that signing which can cause them to miss on other money opportunities. You can perform this signing so they can in turn work on another loan where they are making their full fee. Hope this makes better sense.

Re: Sign up and marketing

are still the BEST ways to grab business. I signed up with every SS or TC I could find when I first began. I networked with a couple of realtors and other notaries. Processors can be a big help in getting your name in the door as well.
