Vital Signings am I crazy?

Just got a call for a closing for Countrywide Loan. Fee offered was 50 for closing 20 for e docs. They seemed suprised at my rejection of the offer or should I say they were suprised at my standard fee for this closing. I guess I must just be crazy or the title companies must be crazy for meeting my fee for the last few years. Are there notaries closing loans on the last day of the month with edocs for under $100. I'm amazed or crazy or maybe not desperate enough to accept it. Someone must be! I just don't get it. Smiley

No different state but same story. I guess they must be able to find people at that rate. I'm just amazed that anyone would come close to doing a signing for anywhere near their offer.
Call me crazy.

I did a countrywide refi two days ago that was 154 pages. I charged a little over double what you were offered. Countrywides packages seem to get bigger with each passing month.

I got a call from Pinnacle Real Estate for a signing on the last day for RTC and offered me
60.00 for O/N. I dont think so! Later on I had a call from another client, Countrywide edocs
for 150.00 for the very same time as Pinnacle, good thing I rejected Pinnacle.

Re: Thanks!

Well I appreciate the input, I don't feel so crazy......I usually charge between 100 and 150 for these loans. I pitty the person who takes the signing for 70 and misses the opportunity to close one for more money and probably less time wasted. There are some companies that make the process so easy that I can see taking a closing for lower fees but I'm sure this would not be the case on this one on the last day of the month.

Re: MY fish is bigger than yours.....

I try not to do Countrywide loans because of all the splits and fax backs they want for little fees.

Re: MY fish is bigger than yours.....

I don't mind 4 document fax backs and I really don't mind splitting the packs. But if I am going to do part of the TCs job for them, I expect to get compensated for it.

I don't mind it either, if I'm getting paid for it. But when the SS only wants to pay you 80 for it, I say forget it. It's not worth it.

Is Vital getting desperate?

As are about a dozen other SS companies. I've always turned down Vital's work, and the others, but I've been getting calls from every SS with a bad reputation lately. The downside of advertising. What I'm hearing is that the newbies are taking on the $40-$60 signings since the experienced SA's are turning them down. The newbies have no experience and most TC's won't deal with them directly. Hopefully, these SS will eventually fall in line or go under. But, I suggest marketing directly to the lenders and TC's..it takes alot of time..but it's worth it. It also allows you to weed out lenders that you may not want to do work for...whether Ameriquerst or Countrywide.

I had one like that offer last week and the trip was a 60 mile round tripper. Then night before last they called at 10PM and wanted me to go on 40 mile round tripper. And, they were not sure how the docs would take to arrive and naturally, I needed to complete the signing by midnight. Sorry Vital.

I got the same call. They BEGGED me for 10 minutes, they said "we'll pay you whatever it takes", all this at 10:00 pm. I said absolutely not. After I hung up my husband said I should have seen what exactly they would have payed me. I told him if they were a company I did a lot of work for I would have considered it but since they normally will not pay more than $50.00 and I haven't worked for them for over 6 months, I absolutely feel no loyalty to try to accommodate them. Oh yea, the last thing he said to me was that if I helped them out of this mess, I would be their FAVORITE MINNESOTA NOTARY. Big deal, no matter what "title" they may give me, it is not worth $50.00 signings.
