Good luck !!!!

Why would you expect someone in business to give you their customer list? A list they may have taken years, countless hours of writing, door knocking, and phone calls to develope. Money was spent on advertising, driving to develope the customer list. This doesn't include time spent on dunning dead-beat companies, which are no longer on the customer list. This does include money lost when a SS went out of business owing for signings. This doesn't include pay never received from dead-beat SS.

And you want all this hard earned info for nothing - and you don't even post your name. !!!!!!

Sure Rod. Let me share with you the 18 months of work that I did to get where I am, so you can get a good start. It's not personal my friend, but do you really think there is going to be an outburst of support in this cause? Do what all of us have done, take the time go to the websites and fill out the questionaires and throw the dice that it works out for you. good luck in your endeavor.

Rod, you must be new...Before you get wiped off this board, I'll tell you that no one is going to send you a list of companies that they individually worked very hard to put together.
What you're doing is like Fedex walking into UPS and asking them for their list of clients.
Go to the signing services tab and sign up with as many as you can.

Re: OK Anonymous Rod

Why would I or anyone else who has worked hard in building our own clientele up so we will have a constant stream of work, give you or others with the same idea our client list, allowing you not to do any footwork yourself?

When I became self-employed in 1993, the first lesson I learned was "if it's so easy, everyone would be doing it." Marketing is an art -- if you are good, you will get work -- if not, you won't -- BUT DON'T EXPECT IT TO JUST BE HANDED TO YOU!

Although this poster's post may see funny to all (it did to me when 1st read it too), I'm sure he didn't think it such a big deal to ask and probably didn't think of it as stealing competition from anyone. Even though I have no intention of emailing him a list of any company, I think he is new to the biz and probably doesn't know that it's not a good idea to post such a question on this board or any board for that matter.

After all, if he did receive a LIST of signing companies from anyone in a different state other than his, how would it be considered competition?

Just a thought.

As I stated in my post in this thread, it would probably be worthless. IMHO...

It's benefitted me to spend some time in the courthouse seeing what mortgage company is doing the loans...go to the boards and see who is connected to the mortgage companies doing the work in your area....OR you can sign up with every ss known to man.

Correct Brenda!

A little "leg-work" is the only way the new folks are going to get business.

Sooooo! get your rear in gear and I wasn't kiddin NNA has lists of everything and everyone so get your moneys' worth and every notary site on the internet have lists.

I just think it's so "cute" the way they get offended when no one will send everything to them, that others' have worked so hard to build. If I want to sell my business I'll run an ad in the paper and someone can buy it.

Re: SLP- it wasn't a funny post -- actually it was quite sad

Had the original poster read past messages instead of just coming in and wanting our client lists to be handed to him, he would know that what he is asking for is a big deal to those of us who have worked hard building a working relationship and our business with phone calls, correspondence, walking the pavement, etc.

I believe that the majority of us had to find out the hard way who to accept signings from and who not to accept them from. But that wasn't even what he wanted -- he wants to know companies that give *constant* business. I assume that he is probably a newly graduated NNA *NSA* -- possibly even a *CNSA* who was taken in with how much money he could earn in less than an hour, and now the phone isn't ringing off the hook, so he wants us to hand him his goldmine.

Regardless of whether he obtained a list from a different state, he will always be someone's competition -- but the competition thing isn't even what's bothering me -- it's the *give me - give me* laziness.

Re: SLP- it wasn't a funny post -- actually it was quite sad

My point exactly!

My God just LOOK at the tabs at the top of this forum (SIGNING SERVICES) just how lazy can a person be?

Goldmine? You're right about that, all we do on a "constant" basis is Dig in that goldmine to produce more work. And trust me it is Backbreaking work, nothing easy about being in this business.

Re: SLP- it wasn't a funny post -- actually it was quite sad

I somewhat agree CarolynCO, but maybe the original poster (like me when I 1st started coming on this site) IS new to this site and was not aware of the search button right away.

By no means am I defending this anon poster, I'm just stating my opinion just as everyone else has done. And you're right, everyone has to find out the hard way who to accept signings from and who to not to. As stated in my post, maybe he was just not aware that the thing to do was to come on here and ask for the ridiculous information as he probably is new to this SA biz. Everyone has to learn somehow and unfortunately, he is learning the hard way right off.

I have lots of notary friends in other states. Why would I want to increase their competition? As a friend and colleague, I wouldn't want to be even remotely responsible for any losses on their part. (Okay, slight over exaggeration, but you get my point.)

I just wanted to know because they say that all the time. They also have 7 (yes SEVEN) dogs and a fence all around thier property with NO gates because "Dogs worn't meant to be fenced in". Of couse when one dog gets hit by a car they just replace it with another...I'm not kidding.
Ok I'm a little peaved at the neighbors thanks for letting me vent.
