What a bunch of loosers at Countrywide
TC called 4PM for an open time signing yesterday. I call EO at 6PM telling her of no contact and when docs will be ready before b/c I have a 7PM appt. I found that it was going to be a split signing where TC is still waiting to find out where Mrs. B is to sign the 2nd half. LO called at 7PM saying Mr.B had a long day an was not going to sign until today, so if I want this signing I have to backdate the docs and Mrs. B is 120 miles away...No thanks.
LO went backdoor and hired a SS (National Notary Agency (818)-502-5055) who call me at 8:30PM to do this signing at whatever fee I want as long as I backdate.
Me: I don't backdate, but there maybe others that do. SS: Do you have a phone # of one that do? Me: If I do, I'd turn that person in already. SS: Oh...paused...Thank you.
TC called this morning for status of signing and was SHOCK to hear the above story. Worst yet, I got a call from a different LO at CountryWide 30 minutes after I talked to TC. This guy wanted me to sign Mr.B in town then drive 120 miles one way to sign Mrs.B at my fee. They sure got creative, I don't have to back date my notarization but, I to date RCT for the loan to fund at month end...What a looser.
This screw up signing drove me nuts and business loss. I'm P--O to the point where I will track down the deed and report who ever accepted & backdated this loan.

Andy, this sounds really familiar. I got called by Countrywide this morning at 10:40 asking me to sign 1st borrower in Tacoma and then drive to Vancouver (2 hours away) to sign 2nd borrower. I said yes to Tacoma but refused to go to Vancouver. They wanted one who could do both. We didn't even make it to the fee negotiation part. About 15 minutes later, they called back asking if I could sign both borrowers in Tacoma on Saturday but date it for Thursday. I didn't even wait for his next sentence and said no and we hung up. End of phone call.

Wow, are you sure that Countrywide is the one who called you
or was it the SS or Loan Officer that asked you to backdate? I have done dozens of loans for Countrywide (several different offices), I have never had this issue. They have been quick and easy except for the splitting of the loan docs when you send them back, but this is easy after a couple also. Always meet my fee and never anything illegal and the borrowor always seems well informed before I get there.
Could it be something that the LO or TC or SS is trying to pull and Countrywide just happens to be the loan company?

Re: Wow, are you sure that Countrywide is the one who called you
He introduced himself as so and so from Countrywide. In fact, I dialed the number on my caller id and Countrywide answers. He might very well be the loan officer at Countrywide but he didn't say on the phone. This is the first time someone from their office asked me to backdate. I've had the same experience as you with Countrywide as far as their loans being quick and easy to sign, no major hassles, and courteous employees. This is one incident.

I have come to expect that from some fly-by-night companies, but when you said Countrywide, it blew my mind. I wonder what the head honchos at Countrywide would have to say about this?

I have closed over 60 Countrywide in my book. This is the first for me as well. TC is still under EOM cruches and will look into it. The issue here is those bozos went behind their back not knowing the relationship/respect I have with this TC.

I am surprised. I have done several Countrywides in my backyard and have yet to have a problem. As a matter of fact, all but four that were scheduled for the last two weeks were Countrywides, and they all went without a hitch.
Sure would like to know how this turned out.

Sarah
That's the one I was talking about. Be glad that you or I might have one less competitor in the future.

I got the call for the second half here in SW WA, I like you reminded them that backdating is not something I participate in, and hung up.

Re: What a **bunch** of loosers at Countrywide???
Nd_WA, I'm going to nitpick with you just a tad... You have every reason to be frustrated and I'm sure I would be, too, but it seems to me that you found just a couple of losers at Countrywide (or maybe a bad branch office). Countrywide is a very large company and I'd bet you've had more good experience from them than bad. We all know how month-end brings out the worst in people, too. (Hopefully the real loser here will be the notary who decided to backdate - and not the borrowers!)

Re: What a **bunch** of loosers at Countrywide???
One branch wanted me to notarized a quit claim deed. The borrower had a ID with different last name than in the documents. They told me just write down the name in my journal and have her sign how it is in the documents. JA, JA, JA, JA, JA, JA, Sure!
How about if I just have her sign what ever you want me to and you put your seal in the countrywide office? LOL
