affiliations
has anyone been told that you can't belong to a signing company because of your affiliation with an association such as the American Society of Notaries?

It is probably a signing service directly affiliated with NNA. ASN is their competition. A far classier organization if I do say so myself.

but what does that have to do with it? It is not for them to tell you whom you can "associate" with as an organization. They can not dictate how many or what Associations you join as a Notary. Its a choice YOU make...NOT THEM!!!
i swear there is just way to much dictorship in this country!

I just signed up with 123notary last week. After I paid online and started adding my affiliations, I wanted to add that I was a "certified" notary signing agent. BUT, since I was not 123notary "certified" they said I couldn't add that to my site. I got my certification through NNA. If I would have known they had that limitation I wouldn't have signed up with 123notary.

I would highly recommend getting 123's certification - hoping you'll be finding out soon enough anyway, now that you're listed there, that it will pay for itself in no time flat. =)
If you're way down on the list, getting certified will move you to the Premium listings at the top. Money well spent - and the testing has it's merits as well.
