hp 1300 printer
I have this printer and just purchased the 2nd tray with the expectation that I would be able to print documents on either legal or letter instead of all on legal as I have been doing. I was on the phone with hp for over 2 hours this morning and have been told the computer/ printer is unable to detect what size paper is needed, I need to install a PS driver and that may get things working. Is anyone else able to print out documents correctly with the 2 trays?

Click on Search and enter message #82486 in the message number box. I still find that I have to print a few of the document systems on legal anyway. Support at one of them, I think it was Securesendit, told me that their system didn't have the 1300 on their list of supported printers. Because of this, if I can I always print a handful of docs to be sur both trays are being selected. Good luck.

thanks, I will check that msg, I did do a search on GMN and there were quite a few posts and persons seemed to be having good luck printing both sizes of paper.

I know you've probably already done this, but
is your paper source switched to Auto Detect? I just installed my 2nd paper tray on my brother and it didn't work until I checked this box. When you select file, print (depending on what OS you're using) there should be a box to auto select the paper.

Re: I know you've probably already done this, but
yes I had done this but finaly this did start working correctly, instructions that came with the tray were very incomplete. I did have to do the download with HP and low and behold things started printing out correctly, thank goodness as it was very time consuming to get this going.
