what is the best way to get started
Help, i just got my commision and became a signing agent in world wind time. Its all so new and so much info. Anyone have any pointers on how to get it all together so i really know what im doing, and what is the best way to get started? Should I jump right in or test out the water first? I would be thankful for any suggestions............

Sure, jump on in. Why not? Seems to be the thing to do now days.

Hurry, join the millions making millions and do it without any knowledge of the industry.
I think tomorrow, I'll become a doctor. Oh yeah, I need to study for that and commit to learning my field. Darn.

And on top of what Becca just said, please make sure you know what a county is before accepting a job. Thanks.

No need to be so rude. It was a valid question. Even you were new at one time.

Read message # 76283 for some ways to understand this board and its responses.

Ahhhh, now I understand your other response.
You do realize that this particular thread is the THIRD one of it's kind that was posted TODAY? And that it is posted on here pretty much every day? And that when these people post this question, there is a message on the screen that tells them that this question is asked over and over again and their answer is already on the board 10,000 times over?
Exactly how many times do we have to endure the same question by people who are too lazy to even scroll down the page, let alone read the board, before we can be less than welcoming with open arms? Luckily it's not for you to decide, because it's been asked several hundred times since I reached my limit.
I personally think that everybody on this board should just start ignoring this question when it's asked. No "welcome to the board", no "read message 33235", no bitchy remarks. Just let em hang dead in the air and force these people to find the answers on their own. They're all right here for the taking if they're willing to put just a teensy bit of thought and/or effort into it.

That the people on here were full of info. to share and could give us good advice. Some are. But reading alot of these post I seems that this is a place for people like you to vent.....your rude opinions......Keep them to yo9ur self and if you are tired of the question dont respond............

Paying customers??
Are you complainers that want information spoon fed to you financial supporters of this board? Need I say anything more?

Re: Dorothy
Isn't that usually the case -- if someone is getting something for free, they complain the loudest.

I knew somebody in the biz, so I got personal training. I dont' even remember how I discovered this board, but I had already made the effort to learn the very basics of the job before I started posting here.

I'll GLADLY let you have the $35, $40 and $50 signings that are offered to me -- and then I'll be happy to take my full fee from the company when I have to go out and clean em up --
and if you are referring to Becca as not being that bright, you definitely need to come off your pedestal, eat a little crow and be amazed at how much you could actually learn from her experience.

You were either misled or missed something.
"I was told to come and get information from this sight [sic]".
Someone either misled you or you misunderstood or maybe you just missed part of the message. If you were misled, I'm sorry, but it's not our fault. This board is NOT meant to be an unpaid hotline or a free continuation course, although if used properly, it can serve as such. At the top of the page I see as I'm typing this, under the Notary Rotary trademark, it says: "The Premier Web Site for Professional Notaries". And it used to be that. People exchanged information about bad companies, unusual experiences, technical problems, etc. Those message are still here but are getting lost in all the complaining and chatter.
I think of a "professional" in any line of work as someone who is beyond the apprentice stage and has at least mastered the basics of their field. But perhaps because of ignorance or laziness on the part of some teachers (or selective listening on the part of some students...), more and more people are coming here with an expectation that this will be their short-cut continuing education program. Keep in mind that you paid for your training class and the teacher was being paid to answer your questions while you were in class. Well, you're out in the real world now, and it's time to earn your stripes. And no one here owes you anything and they have nothing to gain by helping you.
Many new SAs have come here with the right attitude and have been welcomed and treated with respect [well, at least as much as anyone else here ever is...;>)]. They've shown a willingness to make the effort on their own to learn and find the answers they're looking for and if unsuccessful, have requested help in a way that doesn't imply entitlement. And they will usually get it in abundance.
And yes, when we help someone, it might mean a loss of business for us or someone else down the road (although it might be business we wouldn't want anyway...) For the most part, the people whose advice you really want - those who are the most successful - won't be affected at all, because their clients know that they know what they are doing and can depend on them to provide the kind of service they expect. So how has your message motivated those people to give you their hard-earned knowledge?
I encourage you to get your information from "valid places". That's the whole point most of the above posters were trying to make. Don't expect it to be served up to you on a silver platter, but it's all here for the searching! However, one bit of free advice: a lot of what you might read here is the blind leading the blind. There is lots of bad information given, so be careful whose advice you follow. If you read enough, you will be able to figure out which posters to listen to and which to ignore - or to double check!
