A little-known side of Frank Sinatra

Many people are unaware that Frank Sinatra was a real friend of wildlife and the environment.

Sinatra once learned that many herds of animals in Africa were being forced off their native territories into game preserves, where they were more apt to be eaten by their natural enemies due to the crowded conditions. The animals would congregate around lakes and other bodies of water, but had nowhere to run if they were attacked by predators. This resulted in abnormal losses in the herds.

The singer, upon finding out about the problem, donated a money to trying to identifying open land for the animals so they wouldn't be so crowded. Sinatra's idea was to go to the watering holes and load the animals on large barges, take them to other lands, and then set them free. He financed his work through a best-selling song about it; we've all heard the song before. It starts out:

"Start spreading the gnus..."

The title was, of course, "New Ark, New Ark."

Jan...nobody is an icon here!

Hugh should have posted "OT". He has been told before by other posters.

Not following rules doesn't make an icon. "Icon's" give things back...offer good information and are generous about knowledge, and post that knowledge.

The opposite is...well, posting about self rather than the group. A good thought for all.

That's your opinion

TG, Hugh used to post quite frequently 2-3 years ago when there was no "OT". The board was much different then. He shared much of his knowledge and more so his off-beat humor. He was one of the reasons I used to come on this board, was to read his posts. And forgive me, but I will choose who I consider an icon.
