A new one

Did something yesterday I've never done before, I've never heard of anyone else doing, and I certainly hope I never do again.

At the close of a reverse mortgage, I decided to swap out a page with a strikethrough for one of the clean pages in the borrower's packet. When I got home and was preparing to FedEx the packet off, just happened to glance inside. Only then did I learn that I had inadvertently picked up the borrower's packet, and left her the executed documents. Had to drive back and make the exchange.

It might have been worth it, though. While there the second time she and I got to talking about a local luminary whose hairbrush I think is short a few bristles.

"Yeah," she said, "he's a post turtle, all right."

Naturally, I had to ask: "What's a post turtle?"

"Well, when you're driving down a country road, and you see a fence post with a turtle on top, that's a post turtle."

"So...." I tried to learn more.

"You know he didn't get there by his own efforts, he doesn't belong there, he doesn't know what to do while he's up there, and you just want to help the dumb sapsucker down."

Really makes a fellow think.

Hugh...think you've just coined a NotRot-ism-- again.

Lots of 'post' turtles around here some days. But not recently.

That has got to be the best one of the year Hugh.
