Another Deadbeat
I did a signing for a company Closing Services located in Greenacres,FL. The gentleman I dealt with was Barney Robb. He was very friendlly when he placed a signing order with me. This was on June 08,2006. After numerous phone calls and hang ups from Barney, I am totally disillusioned. I don't want to beleive he is a deadbeat but I think us Florida Notaries should beware. This guy doe not pay his bills!

I too made the mistake of taking assignments from Barney Robb of Closing Services AKA EXECUTIVE CLOSING SERVICES.
The first was on 6/29 and went relatively smoothly, with the exception of the overnight documents being sent to the wrong address, so they ended up emailing instead (for a $25 print fee). The second was on 7/6 and ended up being a no-sign. I committed to a 10AM appointment time, but never received a confirmation from Closing Services, although the lender did email the docs to me the evening before. When I called the borrower at 9AM to confirm the appointment (using the phone # on the 1003), he said he had expected a call from him L.O. to review the loan terms before committing to the signing. I immediately called Barney and explained the situation to him. He wanted me to just go to the signing and push the 3-day RTC. When I explained that the borrower had told me he needed to talk to his L.O. before signing because he "did not want to waste my time" Barney agreed to contact the L.O. and to call me back when the borrower was ready to sign. I agreed and let him know what my availability was for later in the day and also reminded Barney that I needed a confirmation from him before I would print the docs and go to this signing.
I finally received the order confirmation from Barney and the call to go ahead with the signing. After calling the borrower to ensure he was ready to sign, I printed the docs and arrived for the signing at 1:30. While reviewing the HUD, the borrower was suprised that the cash out amount was not what had been discussed with his L.O. He was expecting $45K, but the HUD showed $17K. At this point he questioned the loan terms and payment amount. These were also not what he was expecting as the loan was an ARM with a pre-pay penalty and he thought he was getting a fixed rate loan with no penalty. A call was made to the L.O. who tried to convince the borrower that he would be able to take out an equity loan for an additional $18K giving him a total of $35K, but this loan needed to close and fund first. The borrower was PO'd that the terms were not as discussed and decided he was not going to sign....after I had been there 30 minutes. I left and informed Barney of the situation. Barney proceeded to berate me for not calling HIM before I left so he could get the L.O. on the phone to convince the borrower to sign. I informed him that the borrower was on the phone with the L.O. for 25 minutes while I was there and had not been able to convince him during that time period and it was the borrower who had finally decided - WHILE ON THE PHONE WITH THE L.O. - that he would not sign this loan.
The next week, I got a call from the lender letting me know that the borrower was now ready to sign and inquiring if I was available. I questioned why they were calling me directly instead of calling Barney at Closing Services. Out of curiousity, I asked what the lender's payment policy was for no signs as I expected to be paid by Closing Services for the trip made on 7/6. I was informed that payment was an issue between me and EXECUTIVE CLOSING SERVICES, since that is who had contracted for my services, not the lender. In that case, I told them they needed to call Barney to reschedule to loan signing.
Barney called me again on 7/13 to reschedule this closing for 7/14, but this time the docs were being sent via FedEx. The documents arrived as promised, and I proceeded to the closing. The loan terms were exactly the same as the first time, but the borrower agreed to sign...the closing took 2 hours and 15 minutes for a simple refinance!
At this point, I'm just hoping I get paid for these assignments. It has now been 30 days since the first closing, so I will be following up with Barney on 7/31 to inquire about payment. Since finding out that the company name is actually EXECUTIVE CLOSING SERVICES, not Closing Services as shown on the confirmation and represented by Barney, I am not going to hold my breath while waiting for payment. When I received the original order from Closing Services, I did a search and could find no information so decided to give them a change. Now that I know the company is EXECUTIVE CLOSING SERVICES, I am kicking myself for not investigating further as there are many warnings regarding this company.
Although I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, misrepresenting your company name because you know you have a bad reputation is NOT a good sign.
