Another lowball signing call
Ok, this is starting to get annoying as hell. I just got another call from FASS for a signing that would have been a good 70-80 miles roundtrip. I quoted my fee and she gave me the usual response I've been getting from the lowballers "I will check with my manager and give you a call back if they can accept your fee". Then I asked her what she was authorized for and she said $50. $50 friggin dollars!!! I told her there was no way that I would accept that signing and no way would I accept that signing for such a low fee as it will not cover my costs. There has been much talk about how SS's and TC's read this board so I want to direct this message to them:
When you call a notary for a closing, respect that notary and the services they provide. We have intelligence enough to know, that if you have offices in India, you can afford to pay the fees we quote. We drive, meet, and converse with people and our time, knowledge and experience are very valuable commodities to us. We drive our personal vehicles and pump the $3.00/gallon gas, fax pages to your offices using our personal fax machines over the phone lines we pay for wrapping up the closings you call us for on our home and cell phones. To offer anything below $80 minimum for a signing is to be very frank, insulting and wouldnt come close to covering time, fuel costs, and driving time invested in the signing appointment. We are the professionals here and its time you acknowledged and respected that fact.
Good Day.

I agree 100%. The lowball game is getting old. Hopefully if we all stick together and don't accept the lowball offers, the ss and tc's will finally Get It.

Jahari you should take this on as your cause. You would
be a great spokesman for us all. Start the letter writing campaign and see if you can help out the rest of us. TIA Beverly! ps I'm serious

Got a call last week for $55.00 signing including E-docs
After attempting to get clarification several times to be sure that that fee INCLUDED E-DOCS, I had no further words and just hung up the phone. I figured it was enough that I answered the phone!
I URGE ALL NOTARIES TO TURN THESE FOLKS DOWN. THEY OFFER THESE PEANUTS ONLY BECAUSE THERE ARE FOLKS THAT FIND THIS ACCEPTABLE! BUT FREQUENTLY WE ARE OUR OWN ENEMY WITH THOSE AMONG US THAT ARE DESPARATE. BREAKING EVEN WITH COST IS NOT EARNING A LIVING.
TURN THESE FOLKS FLAT DOWN.
that's my two cents.

Re: Then they called my neighbor and offered $65.00 including
I would be knocking on that neighbor's door and thanking him, and assuring him that you will be directing all of the lowball SS's that call you his way. That leaves him all tied up with the low fees and leaves you open for the better paying ones.
I have turned down $40 & $50 signings right here in my home town, only to have some knucklehead drive 30 to 40 miles 1-way to do it.

Re: Then they called my neighbor and offered $65.00 including
I love to get even with these low ball SS's. If they call me back with their "manager's approval" I inform that "I'm so sorry but I just filled that time slot, and they didn't need their manager's approval to pay a decent fee".
