E&O insurance
i am finally going to buy E&O insurance. not because i think that i might do something as a notary that someone would sue me over, but rather because everyone i work for wants me to. i would really like to know if anyone out there has ever been sued, known someone that has been sued or even heard of someone being sued for a notarial act.

Jeez people
Why doesn't anybody even make a slight effort to browse the board before asking questions like this? The thread that was started on this EXACT same topic this morning is still on the first page of the board for pete's sake.

Re: Jeez people
Well pete, my sake is that E & O is a railroad, right?
Actually, not that I know of. But if you read Notary magazines or maybe try searching the internet for those terms you might find out.

I meant the INTERNET. Google, or Alta Vista or a popular search engine.

E&O Insurance -Have you or anyone you know ever had a claim? Posted by NCLisa of NC on 7/7/06 11:45am Msg #131484 from logged in user This is based on a previous thread.
As I said in my last post, in 16 years as a notary, an escrow officer and real estate paralegal, I have never had a claim against me, or known anyone that had a Notary E&O Insurance claim.
If you have had one, or know of someone that did, please share that information, it would be benificial to us all. I'd like to know what the claim was for.

Shebear, either contribute something or go home. If you contribute, be specific. Otherwise, apologise to the original poster for being useless.

Re: These comments irritate the hell out of me
What is your problem. You irritate me! I have no idea where you are coming from. Why does everyone jump to conclusions and epitaphs of swear words if someone says anything.
Forget all of you!
Never ever have I been on a board where people(I think that you all are people, it is hard to tell sometimes) are mean spirited, horrible to their neighbors for actually trying to join into a conversation.
Why oh why did I even try! Forget it. Go and fly off the nearest highest point you have in your state and don't be surprised if you go "splat" when you hit the ground!!!!! (With this post (except the "splat" I DO NOT JEST)

To be fair
Telling somebody to look something up on an internet search engine, and then explaining what sites are internet serach engines is a completely useless answer. This is 2006. Anybody who is computer savvy enough to find the notaryrotary board already knows what Google is and what it does.

Re: To be fair? When?
Nobody follows the posts? Who are you people? What "Twilight Zone" did I post into? None of you can take or get a joke.
I don't even know why anyone tries. Go ahead and have your fun. I don't care. Laugh while you can. It will come back to you.

you can dish it out but you can't take it.

Just taking up space and nonsensical postings.
***Forget all of you!***
Please, do so. We will all be very grateful as you are useless. (Didn't I just say that?) It bears repeating to some.

So you said something that somebody else doesn't like... maybe you posted a 'useless' post... so what. I've done it... I'm sure others have done it. The only one on this board who I'm pretty sure has NEVER done it is PAW so RELAX... don't stress... nobody is perfect...

If you buy the E&O from the NNA it is only $50 per year for $100,000 of insurance. I currently have 25K and will up it to 100K. I finally figured out with my lightining fast brain it just makes good business sense. I was only curious what others thought and are doing.

Re: NOW ARE WE DONE WITH THIS?
yea i suppose we are, unless someone has actually been or known someone who has been successfully sued for a notarial ack. marie from md does say that she was named as a defendant in a law suit against a fraudulant company. i'm sure there have been people who have been sued, perhaps successfully, for a notarial act, but then, people win the lotto and are struck by lightning. i will buy E&O insurance because the people i work for want me to. i think the notion that a notary needs this kind of protection is silly. more notaries will die on the way to a signing this year than will be suscessfully sued for a notarial error.

Victoria
When you log on to "Notary Talk" there is an orange seach button to click on. If you type key words into that screen, you will pull up previous posts on that particular subject. It is a helpful resource the moderator of this forum has provided for our collective benefit, to eliminate the repetitve posting. That is what everyone is in an uproar about. This E & O issue is a long thread, which may answer your questions. If not, just write you researched, but didn't find the direct information you were seeking, and consider using your own search engine to look info up on the net. If you find something useful, you may want to share it with us. IMO. Best wishes.

I appreciate your help. Earlier I stated that I did use the search button and I did find some information. Google gets a work out daily. I have been around long enough to know this. Maybe I did ask questions prematurely but they did get answered. Thank you and best wishes to you too.
