E-mail vs. webmail?

I never had this problem before but what if your cable co. is changing as mine has just informed me? We all have our e-mail addresses on our business cards but if the cable or phone co. changes then one cannot have the same address, right. Whereas with webmail the co. obviously never changes and neither does the address.

I believe that is true Delta. Another thing that you can do is to get an "email for life" such as at bigfoot.com. You get the email for instance [e-mail address] and you set it up so that all email automatically gets forwarded to whatever email account you have set up with your ISP. You can also get your own website going and use that email address.

How about 2 address?

Maybe its a good idea to have 2 e-mail addresses by 2 separate providers in case one is having trouble with one of them (like I am right now!) and putting both on your business card and elsewhere

Re: I have 2 addresses.

One I use specifically for loan signings, the other (Hotmail) is a backup and also for my personal correspondence. I upgraded the Hotmail to the $19.95 annual account to stop getting all the ads and to get more storage space.

I can see an advantage to listing both on a business card or Web profile. Backups never hurt!

Re: Nothing wrong with that. . .

. . .as long as the ISP isn't something like theworldsucks.com.

Any time I see a Hotmail, Gmail, Juno, Yahoo email account, my first thought is why would this supposedly otherwise legitimate business use a free email service, when having their own domain (and email service) is so cheap?

Trust me, MANY folks in the business world think like this, and it is reflected in nearly all industry reflections on what it needed for a real business today.

If you have your own domain and SMTP email service, you also control the address, no matter WHERE it is hosted.

For less than $100 a year (in many cases, WAY less!!) this is an expense that will save you a lot of trouble, and mistaken class assignment judgement in potential clients.

I totally agree. I have my own domain name for this purpose.
