I'm a Newbie and need advise
I had a signing two saturdays ago and the Title Company sent over blank docs for the Homeowners to sign. They did not want to sign them and the title company sent me back out to have them sign the blank docs and they again did not want to sign blank docs. Come to find out the Mortgage Consultant had re-emailed the docs to the homeowners after my second vistit. The homeowners computer was down so they never got them and I was never made aware of that they were emailed to the homeowner. Should I charge to go back out again when the homeowners receive the completed docs to sign and is it normal to get blank docs for homeowners to complete and sign? I'm worried and feel a bit overwhelmed by the whole situation.
Thanks SW

I suppose I would charge an additional fee so long as the error was not mine. I think that asking yourself some basic questions would help., ie, Did I make the mistake, Do I want to continue a good relationship with TC. Don't be overwhelmed you'll do fine. But don't let them take advantage of you either.

I'm thinking and I don't know why them sending a blank document would be my fault. I'm just really worried because I don't want to be put on a black list after my first signing. Thanks for your reply.

Sondee, step back and take a deep breath. If I were BO I wouldn't want to sign a blank doc either. Are they saying this is your fault? Don't stress over this too much and don't overthink it either. Maybe tell TC you'll be happy to go back to BO with correct doc and have them sign. For a extra fee of course.

SW, What did you agreed to B4 returning? Same fee, reduced fee or no fee. Any subsequent visit not due to MY error is billable. Negotiation and confirmation is key in this business.
Good Luck!

I did not agree on anything because this is my first time, I didn't know if that was my fault or not. So, I went out a second time as requested fromt he e-doc company that sent me the Title company's papers. My law states that I'm only there to watch them sign the docs and notorize the docs. I can not explain or give advise regarding the docs. I also had received a package from the Escrow. Within that package it stated not to let the homeowers sign any blank docs. So, I took that as law and when the title company had docs that were blank, I did not have them sign them. I also alerted the e-doc company what had transpired and what papers I sent back the same day. They got back to me a week later asking me to back out and have the homeowners sign the blank docs. Homeowners refused again.

SW, If I am reading your post correctly, you never requested compensation for your second trip?

No nothing was said about payment for a second visit. They never brought it up and I never said anything about it. My bad I know but, I'm suppose to go back out tomorrow night and complete the signing when the homeowners get the completed docs from Escrow. I guess I could let them know that I'm going to charge for tomorrow's services. I guess I'm on a big learning curve.

Yes!! U should B paid!
SW,
You guess! Yes, please advise the hiring entity that you are requesting XXX to complete the assignment. If they desire not to compensate you, I would advise them to find someone else. JMHO
Remember, you are in business to MAKE a Profit. Golden rule #1, get all fee confirmations in writing B4 performing the assignment.

Sondee, you should be paid for all three trips. Full fee for first time a reduced fee for just escrow docs on second trip, and a reduced fee for just escrow docs on the third. Make sure you get confirmations.
