How should "Sally Del Norte" initial her name?

Wow, that's a good question. I suppose it's up to Sally to describe the meaning of her name.

Is "Del Norte" a single name? or is it a two part name? That's probably an ethnic question.

My first inclination would be to suggest "SDN", but I wouldn't guide her at the time of signing...it's up to her.

I would let her tell me whether "Del" is her middle name or part of her last name. If it is her middle name, then she would properly initial SDN. If it is part of her last name, then she should initial SD.

However, I find it quite common for folks with multi-part last names to do variations on their initials. For example, "Jane McGuire" might initial JMc, JMcG, or JM. I don't usually worry too much about their initials, so long as the borrower is consistent. I've even seen Juniors use the Jr as part of their initials. I've never had one returned for incorrect initials.

I had one of this, where in your sample, Del was part of the last name, but because was two word, I let him initial with all three initial, in your case SDN...always after I had approval from Title company. You should do the same, call Title company or signing service.
