New Notary on the block with questions???

Hey Guys,

As I stated, I am a new notary and I have a few questions for you experts out there. I am trying to sign up with signing agencies and such and this question of fees keeps rearing its ugly (but ooh so beautiful) head. I am very aware of the $10 max for each signature, but I am wondering about reasonable, yet worth my wild traveling fees. How much should I charge?

I am also a certfied signing agent and am wondering about those fees as well. Do I charge traveling fees, or do I charge for what type of doc I am signing ie...deeds, etc?

This was my thinking:

$10--per sig
$25--traveling fee for notary doc's only

Then for loans:

$10--per sig
$50--traveling fee

Please helpSmile

You don't charge per signature for loan signings, you charge a flat fee that covers everything. Search the board, there have been plenty of threads about fees.

Remember costs of business, and like before it is a flat fee for loan signings. As one wise person once said, " why run around with my head cut off for $50 jobs, when I can sit by the pool and only do the jobs that pay my fee? " Another interestig point, the ones who will pay your fee normally don't have extra requirments that take even extra time.

Just FYI. Hope it works for you.

For regular notary work, your proposal sounds fine. That travel fee could be adjusted based on how far you have to go.

But for loan signings, there's no way you're going to know how many signatures will be in a loan package, try as you might to find that out, so you just have to have one all inclusive fee.

If you have a set fee, make it for within a certain mileage range, and then you can charge extra if it's beyond that mileage, and extra for faxbacks, etc.

Like Cali said, do a Search. There's been plenty written up on this.

Good luck!

for loans you can't charge per sig. set your own flat fee $75, $100. per loan signing in a 25 mile range.( just an example).
always charge extra for fax back or emailed docs. or travel fee if more than your 25 mile travel (this is also an example).
good luck

I realize you're being polite

but it's really not necessary to respond to every post with an individual thank you. Once is plenty, we'll get the message.
