I quit 7 years ago. After smoking for 18 years! It was the hardest thing, but I did it ... and haven't relapsed. Good luck. Hang in there.

I wore the patch for 8 days and just briefly on the 9th day. I didn't care for the side effect of the nicotine taste in my mouth. I wore mine on my upper arm. Yes, it itched!

This is a hard habit to break!
I smoked for 15 years. I quit the day I walked out of the Doctor's office in a daze because I was pregnant. I was told that I couldn't have children and I wasn't going to do anything that would hurt the baby. That baby is now 12 1/2 years old and I still don't smoke. My husband quit about 5 years later. Really the best thing I ever did for myself and my family. I wish you the best and call me if you need to, I'll support ya 100% b.

Re: OT - Good luck! You can do it.
I quit "cold turkey" 4 years ago and am so glad I did. After smoking for more than 30 years I wasn't sure I could do it but I did without any relapses.
Going into smoker's houses for signings just about makes me sick. I can hardly wait to go home & get out of my stinky clothes.
The good/bad (??) thing about quiting is that you can smell more and food really tastes better too. Good luck to you!!

Re: THANK YOU!!
I quit May 7,2005. I was smoking 2 1/2 packs a day. I used the gum for 2 days, then switched to peppermint life savers. Now I am addicted to lifesavers, go through quite a few a day.

anoter good thing about quiting smoking is that you can treat yourself to something really nice with the money you save by not buying cigarettes.

Get lot's of
sugar free gum, hard candies, and mints. Carry pens and pencils around so you have something to do with your hands other than hold a smoke.

Re: OT - DAY ONE!! Kudos to you Dick.
Thank you for sharing. You'd have probably been irritable anyhow during that time, huh? *You* just would not have noticed it. LOL. You are a great guy for sharing that. Prayers to JB, as well.

Re: YOU can do it
I QUIT in 1999 it was the Hardest and best thing I ever did for myself. Stick to it you can make it, it took a lot of trys for me over the years before it finally worked. A place I went to a LOT in my first 6 months was www.quitnet.com its a place where everyone is in the same boat in diff. stages of their personl quit. I really don't know if I could have done it without a place to go to ( forum) and talk, yell , whine etc. Good luck if you need to let it out don't hesitate to email!
