Oath/Affirmation question.
I know many of you perform the oath prior to docs being signed, I have always done just the opposite and perform the oath at the end of the signing (but before I notarize anything).
I am curious to know the verbage you use in the oath performed prior to signing the docs... TIA.

Hey Jersey, mine is something like "Yo dude, you ain't lyin' is ya or yo butt goes to the can. Obviously I'm joking. I simply tell them... By taking this Oath you are swearing and affirming that you are who you say you are. It usually differs slightly but the BO's get the jist of what I am saying. Often times they kinda chuckle a bit, I'm guessing it's because it's the first time they have had to do such a thing. In my previous post with respect to ID'ing, I'm finding here in CA a lot of Notaries do not comply with CA regs.

I just say "do you affirm that the statements contained in this document are true" I don't say "swear" because I do not wish to offend anyone. I also don't go as far as making them raise thier right hand.

Raising the hand is interesting as i don't do that either, but I am amazed when BO's raise their hand.

I have them raise their right hand and swear them in prior to the signing. It sets the tone and helps to keep you in total control. “Do you solemnly the signature(s) you are about to place on these documents, is that of your own true identity, it is place thereon without any threat or coercion, and that any affidavits you may sign are true and correct to the best of your knowledge?”
If they do not answer yes or I do, I repeat the oath.
