I did a signing today for a notary company out of san diego california and on the page that shows what fee's the borrower paid it said notary service 250.00.I am only receiving 65.00 and that's ok because it was just down the street from me but why when I am doing the majority of the work why am I being paid so little.I am new to this and would just like a little friendly input. Thanks

1. Your fee should be set based on what the job entail, not how far it is. 2. You can chalk this one up as the price for experience. 3. What's on the HUD should not be of your concern ever.
This is a BUSINESS, you've got to have standards and policies.

Just a thought. Did you spend more than 30-45 minutes going, working and coming back? Lets say you spent an hour, after your costs are taken out you still cleared $50.00 for less then an hours work. That ain't bad. The long and short of it in my mind is you know what you price your services at and as long as you are happy and profitable, what everyone else makes is inconsequential.

Heidi apparently when contacted you accepted what they offered to pay you. The magic word here is to ask "what are you authorized to pay"? when negotiating the signing at the beginning. If the fee is too low, you can quote them your standard fee. They will then either agree to pay you for what you feel your services are worth or call someone else. As someone else said earlier, what is disclosed on the HUD is irrelevant. It's your "value of services" and the price you put on it.

The reason you got the work was because you are new.

There is also likely some other notarization needed at the county courthouse to record DOCs there, which is part of the notrary fee listed on the HUD, with every case we do.
This doesn't mean that the thought of asking "what are you authorized to pay?" isn't a good policy, but it also doesn't mean that the signing company got everything quoted in the HUD that you didn't get.
