Pet Peeve
A standard Pet Peeve: You are to write in, "sworn before me by _____________" and that is EXACTLY how long the line is. GEEZ! The doc is 15 font... but I can't write at 15 font. Not too many of my borrowers have names small enough to fit on that line. Who in the world types these things up? Another Pet Peeve: A very small area for us to put out stamps. And we're suppossed to NOT stamp over any printed words. And this one: Closing instructions are at the end of the docs and there it tells what color ink to use.. after the borrowers have signed in the WRONG color. (I don't usually take the time to read through the docs BEFORE I get to the closings, or I would spend all day reading docs and not getting them signed). Just venting...

I hate those small lines for printing and the small areas to stamp, too. I have found it is in my best interest to not only look over the docs before the appt., including the instructions (no matter where they are in the pkg.) But additionally, a time saver for me is to complete my notarial certificates and notary sections as much as legally possible before the appointment. It has helped reduce the time at my signings from 1 hr. to 1 1/4 hr. to about 45 minutes. And, I don't have to worry about pen color, re-signing in the correct color, etc. And if I am unfamiliar with a certain doc, plenty of time to reseach it. I am one of those folks who like to be prepared, and the signing seems to go smoother for me and the brws. JMO

I agree with you PJM. Another pet peeve: why do they call you the day before or 9:00am to do a signing at 6:00pm and after you accept and agree to a fee, you don't receive the eDocs until 6:00pm????? and, you're right... I can't for the life of me figure out WHY they put the instructions at the end or mixed in with the documents. Sometimes there are instructions about 1/2 way through the package and then there are more instructions at the end!! Go figure. I never have time to go through the docs before the appointment because they are almost always late in sending them to me. And while we're discussing pet peeves, why do some of these SS expect us to go back to our office and fax practically the entire set of docs to them before putting them in a drop box? Do they realize what a pain this is and how much time it takes? And you all know that the fax line is always busy because everyone is trying to fax docs to them. I personally think we should charge an extra fee for fax backs of documents. Sorry... I could go on and on....

My Pet Peeve is..Why are we the ones who have to tell the borrowers that they need a photo stat. copy of their ID's???? Shouldn't that be the LO's job. Also, whoever scans these documents should learn "how to scan the docs", ie, scan them as text and not as image so that I don't have to wait 2 minutes for each page to print. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Carlos, we share the same "Pet Peeve" re: scanning...
I also wanted to thank you for posting about Elite Mobile a few months ago. When I got a call from them my first reaction was, Elite?? he77 no, then I quickly did a search and found your glowing reviews. I let the man know I was searching and I read him your comment, he was very happy to hear it and said he like working with you too. I said if you're okay with Carlos, you're okay with me. He met my fee and I was paid in one week. Without your input here, I would have likely turned down an A+ company.

Your answer 10/10 times when you call a lender/tc regarding a notary certificate will be to attach an acknowledgment, I don't think any person on the other end ever knew what a jurat is.

I thought that I was the only one that had these pet peeves. I get a call to do an appt and don't get docs 'til appt time. The tc/ss will tell me to call the client and tell them I am going to be late. That makes me look like the culprit. Once I was even called back after contacting the borrower that everyhting had been postponed for another day. Then upon telling the client that I will need a copy of the id's presented they become aggravated that they were not told in advance and may need to leave the signing to go to the store or wherever to get a copy.
As far as the fax backs, there are some lsa's who are charging per page maybe that will be a good idea.
I had a client ask me how much we are paid for our signings because she used to be a notary and did not know that she could loan signings. When I told her I was not at liberty to discuss it, she stated that she was previously a lender as well and pointed out to me that the contractors SA's that hire us collect anywhere from 300-800 per signing. It's on the TIL. sometimes they omit it. Take a look. I did. They want us to do the leg work for $50.00-85.00 while they are collecting in excess of $300.00 for calling us. How fair is that. Talk about pet peeve!!!!

Mistarella, without fail, every time I try to prepare notary certificates ahead of time, it turns out the signing has been moved down the road to another county, or the wife can't be there after all! So now I don't bother to jinx the signing by filling out the certificates ahead of time.

I do like Misty does whenever possible...I have been lucky so far. With all the Tx title docs a package would take me way too long to complete 100% in front of the bwrs.
