Sit and wait Fee
Does anyone charge extra for sitting by the computer from 6-730 waiting on docs for a 6pm closing, or if after 2 hours of waiting the title company says the Hud isnt ready. I know its not a trip, but waiting 2 hours for docs, there should be some fee charge. Anyone charge for this or do you let it slide, any info would be helpful. Thank you

Not much you can do about it. If you tried to charge, no one would pay it anyway. It's just one of the irritations of our business.
Next time give them a deadline that you must have docs by.
By you saying "the HUD wasn't ready" do you mean the appointment is not happening? If so, no you cannot charge a trip fee, plus you didn't print out any docs.
Myself? I'd pour a glass of wine and turn on the TV.

I don't sit and wait ..
I tell the company I am working for it is my policy not to schedule the signing until I have the docs. Yes, I may lose a little business that way, but it would be the disorganized companies anyway. Of course, it has been a few months since I have had more than 3 in one day, but when I schedule the times myself after I have the docs, I can get more done in one day without as much rushing around.

Sigh... if I could collect a dollar for every hour I sat and waited for e-docs I could get a nice 50" plasma TV to help keep me entertained while I wait for my next set of e-docs.

John, Re: Sit and wait Fee
John,
I always inform a company before I accept an assignment, that the documents are due by a certain time. If not received, the signing will have to be rescheduled, and I still expect my full fee (or as close to my fee as possible).
This has happened to me three times. And each time, I have received the full-fee! Additionally, I was paid again, for going to the next day's appointment. Of course each company is different and may not agree. Those who do not agree, I do not accept!
On one of my very first signings, I waited literally all evening for e-docs. to arrive. I kept telephoning the company and was repeatedly told that the documents were on their way. In the meantime, I was kept the borrower posted as to the status.
As it turns out, the documents did not arrive until almost noon, the following day!
During this time, I was literally "stressed out"!
However, later that evening, I telephoned a very experienced signing agent. She instructed me what to say and what to do. And yes, it worked!
This was a very important learning experience! I do not sit and wait. If the documents haven't arrived by a certain time, that's letting me know that the company has cancelled.
For example, if a signing is at 7:00pm and it is 7:30pm and the documents still have not arrived, then the signing is cancelled. Plain and simple!
Hope this helps!
Pam
